Pantone™ PMS 5285 U

PMS 5285 U is a Pantone reference color, so visual evaluation in the actual environment is critical before committing to a full installation. For pop-ups or retail spaces, apply a physical sample of the matched paint to the intended substrate and view it under the installed lighting. Different light sources and surface textures can shift how the color is perceived.

For high-visibility brand areas, review durability and finish requirements early and confirm approval on a real painted sample rather than relying on digital previews or fan deck comparisons alone.

When applying PMS 5285 U spray paint, multiple light coats generally produce more even color and smoother results than a single heavy coat. Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next, rather than trying to build coverage too quickly.

This approach helps manage coverage and appearance, especially for Pantone colors where uniformity matters for brand-facing surfaces.

PMS 5285 U is matched to a Pantone reference standard, not a fixed paint formula. For the most consistent results across reorders, use the same product type and sheen each time and evaluate new batches against an approved physical sample.

For ongoing brand programs or phased installations, keeping a retained sample and approving future orders against it helps reduce visible variation.

PMS 5285 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats for branding and display applications. Spray paint is commonly chosen for even coverage on displays and fixtures, while paint pens or brush-in-cap bottles may be useful for small graphics or controlled application areas.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
