PMS 466 U is a Pantone PMS color commonly specified as a neutral-supporting tone within brand systems and physical displays. It conveys a grounded, approachable, and organic vibe with restrained warmth and low visual noise.

The color presents as a mid-light beige with an LRV of 46.72. It reads warm with an earthy, slightly golden undertone and maintains moderate to low saturation for a calm, natural appearance.

PMS 466 U works well as a background or supporting color where brand elements should feel calm and balanced rather than attention-dominant. Surface contrast, priming, and lighting conditions can influence how uniform and warm the color appears, so evaluation in the intended environment is recommended.

Similar colors:

PMS 465 U: slightly lighter and softer, with a more open beige appearance.
PMS 467 U: darker and heavier, with increased brown depth.
PMS 468 U: warmer and more saturated, with stronger yellow influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 466 U

How should I compare samples of Pantone PMS 466 U during color approval?

When approving Pantone PMS 466 U, compare samples under consistent lighting and on the same substrate whenever possible. Differences in lighting temperature or surface texture can shift how the color appears.

Allow the paint to fully dry and cure before making a final judgment. Wet paint can look darker or glossier than the cured film, which can lead to approval decisions that do not match the finished result.

Can Pantone PMS 466 U paint be used on plastics or low-surface-energy materials?

Pantone PMS 466 U can be matched into paint for plastics, but plastics vary widely in surface energy and composition. Some plastics require specific primers or surface preparation to achieve proper adhesion.

Before production, test the PMS 466 U paint system on the actual plastic you plan to use. This helps confirm adhesion, appearance, and durability under your real conditions.

Why does licensed reproduction matter when ordering Pantone PMS 466 U paint?

Pantone PMS colors like PMS 466 U are licensed color standards. Licensed reproduction means the color is matched to Pantone specifications rather than approximated visually.

Using an authorized Pantone PMS match helps ensure that PMS 466 U aligns with brand standards across displays, signage, and marketing applications where visual consistency is critical.

What should I know about shipping and transit time for Pantone PMS 466 U paint?

Shipping transit time for Pantone PMS 466 U paint depends on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. Production time and carrier delays can affect delivery dates.

If PMS 466 U is needed for a scheduled brand or marketing project, plan ahead and allow buffer time so color approval and installation are not rushed.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 466 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 466 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 466 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 466 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 466 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
