Color summary PMS 414 U is a Pantone PMS color specified for brand, display, and marketing environments where a subdued gray-green is needed. It carries a neutral, grounded presence that supports other visual elements without competing for attention.

Color characteristics This color appears as a mid-light gray-green with an LRV of 46.72 and a neutral-to-cool temperature. Its very low saturation creates a softened look, with a subtle green undertone that can shift slightly depending on lighting conditions.

Practical application PMS 414 U performs well as a background or secondary color in brand-focused applications, signage, and fabricated elements. Even surface preparation and consistent application help preserve its uniform, restrained appearance, particularly across large panels or varied substrates.

Similar colors:
PMS 413 U: darker and slightly warmer, with a more brown-leaning gray appearance.
PMS 415 U: lighter and cooler, with a cleaner gray cast and less green influence.
PMS 417 U: darker and more neutral, with reduced green undertone visibility.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 414 U

Will PMS 414 U look different if I choose a matte versus gloss finish?

Yes. PMS 414 U is defined as a color target, not a finish. Changing sheen can make the same matched color appear lighter, darker, or more saturated. Gloss finishes reflect more light and often look richer and brighter, while matte finishes absorb more light and can appear softer or grayer.

If you compare samples with different finishes side by side, they can look like different colors even when the Pantone target is the same. For brand-critical work, always compare samples using the same finish you plan to use in production.

If my existing part is described as PMS 414 U, should I rely on the Pantone code or send a physical sample?

PMS 414 U is best used as a brand color reference for displays, signage, and visual brand elements. If you need a result that visually blends with an existing painted part, the most reliable path is to send the actual part to be matched.

Pantone matching targets the printed Pantone reference, not the aging, substrate, texture, or finish of an installed component. Sending a physical sample allows the match to account for those real-world factors.

What is the typical production lead time for paint matched to PMS 414 U?

Paint matched to PMS 414 U is made to order. Production time depends on the paint format you select and current production volume.

In general, custom-matched paint requires additional time compared to off-the-shelf colors. If you are working against a marketing or installation deadline, it is best to plan ahead and confirm timing before placing your order.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 414 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 414 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 414 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 414 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
