Pantone™ PMS 3272 U

Pantone PMS 3272 U is a bright, highly saturated color, and colors like this often have lower natural hide. In practice, this means you may need additional coats to achieve even coverage, especially over darker or uneven substrates.

To reduce surprises, start with a uniform primer or base coat, then apply multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat. Always test on the actual substrate before committing to production so you can confirm coverage and appearance.

Pantone PMS 3272 U defines the color target, not where or how the paint should be used. The choice between interior and exterior paint should be based on exposure, durability needs, and the environment where the color will be seen.

If the PMS 3272 U color will be used outdoors or in areas exposed to weather, UV light, or temperature changes, select an exterior-rated paint. For indoor brand displays or controlled environments, an interior paint is usually appropriate. Choosing the correct paint type helps preserve appearance without changing the intended Pantone color reference.

When approving a Pantone PMS 3272 U match, always compare samples under consistent lighting and on the same type of substrate used in the final application. Differences in material and light can noticeably affect how the color is perceived.

Allow the paint to fully dry and cure before making a final judgment, as saturated colors can shift slightly as they settle. For high-visibility or brand-critical projects, reviewing a physical sample in the actual environment is strongly recommended.

Proper surface preparation is important for consistent results with Pantone PMS 3272 U. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or residues that could interfere with adhesion.

Light scuffing may be appropriate on smooth or glossy surfaces to help the paint bond evenly. Before full application, apply a small test area to confirm adhesion, coverage, and appearance on the specific substrate.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
