PMS 225 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a saturated magenta-pink with strong visual presence. Within brand and marketing contexts, it conveys boldness, energy, vibrancy, and contemporary emphasis, making it highly noticeable in display and experiential applications.

The color appears medium-dark with an LRV of 21.06 and reads warm, leaning toward a red-magenta hue. It shows very high saturation and chroma, resulting in intense visual impact with a distinct pink-magenta undertone.

PMS 225 U works well in brand-facing environments where high visibility and color intensity are intentional, such as signage, displays, and promotional elements. Due to its saturation, a light or white primer may help achieve more uniform coverage, and appearance should be evaluated under the actual lighting and finish conditions.

Similar colors:
PMS 224 U: slightly lighter and a bit less saturated, with a softer pink appearance.
PMS 226 U: deeper and more intense, with increased visual weight and saturation.
PMS 232 U: lighter and warmer, with a more open, less dense magenta tone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 225 U

When ordering PMS 225 U, is the name alone enough or do I need the full Pantone code?

You should always order using the full Pantone code, including the suffix, such as PMS 225 U. The number identifies the color target, and the suffix indicates the Pantone series and reference condition. Ordering by name alone can lead to the wrong target because similar names or numbers may exist across different Pantone systems.

Pantone PMS codes are communication standards for color appearance, not paint formulas. Providing the exact code helps ensure the paint is matched to the correct Pantone reference.

How do I choose the right paint type for a PMS 225 U Pantone match?

To choose the right paint type for PMS 225 U, consider the substrate, environment, and finish requirements of your project. Different paint types can change how the color appears due to sheen, texture, and coverage behavior.

If you are unsure, contact MyPerfectColor with details about what you are painting, whether it will be used indoors or outdoors, and your desired finish. This helps select a paint format that best supports accurate visual matching to the Pantone PMS target.

How is PMS 225 U typically used in brand and marketing applications?

PMS 225 U is a Pantone PMS color intended to create consistent brand experiences across marketing, displays, and environments. Brands specify Pantone PMS colors so that different vendors can aim for the same visual color target.

When PMS 225 U is used on signage, exhibits, or branded components, the goal is visual alignment to the Pantone reference rather than exact chemical or material matching. Finish, lighting, and substrate can all influence how the color is perceived.

What should I know about shipping times when ordering PMS 225 U paint?

PMS 225 U paint is custom matched, so shipping time includes both production and transit. Transit time depends on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout.

If you are working toward a marketing or installation deadline, plan extra time for production and delivery. Ordering earlier and choosing an appropriate shipping option can help reduce schedule risk.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 225 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 225 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 225 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 225 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 225 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
