PMS 183 U is a Pantone PMS color defined within the Pantone Matching System and recognized for its warm rose pink appearance. It conveys a modern, expressive character that feels confident and approachable in brand and marketing contexts.

The color has a mid-range lightness with an LRV of 43.67 and reads clearly without appearing pale or overly dark. It leans warm with a noticeable red influence, shows moderate saturation for strong visibility, and carries a soft rosy undertone that tempers intensity.

PMS 183 U performs well in brand-facing applications where consistency and visibility are important. Using a light or neutral primer can help support uniform coverage, and evaluating samples under intended lighting and finish conditions can help confirm the desired red-pink balance.

Similar colors:
PMS 182 U: slightly lighter and softer, with a more delicate pink appearance.
PMS 184 U: darker and richer, with increased red depth and visual weight.
PMS 1777 U: brighter and more vivid, with higher perceived saturation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 183 U

Why can PMS 183 U look different under various lighting conditions?

PMS 183 U is a Pantone reference color, and its appearance can shift depending on lighting and viewing conditions. Different light sources such as daylight, LED, or fluorescent can change how saturated or warm the color appears. This is a normal effect called metamerism.

To reduce surprises, evaluate PMS 183 U under the same lighting where it will be used. If the project is high visibility or requires formal brand approval, ordering a physical sample and reviewing it on the actual substrate and under installed lighting is recommended.

How do I order paint matched to PMS 183 U on MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 183 U, start by selecting the paint format that fits your application, such as spray paint or another available paint type. Next, choose the desired sheen and quantity.

PMS codes define the color target, not the finish or coating system, so those choices affect how the color will look. For saturated Pantone colors like PMS 183 U, finish selection and coverage expectations are important. If accuracy is critical, consider ordering a sample first to confirm appearance before committing to a full order.

What is the typical lead time for PMS 183 U paint orders?

Paint matched to PMS 183 U is made to order. Production lead time depends on the paint format selected and current production volume.

Because Pantone-matched products are custom mixed, they usually require additional time before shipping compared to off-the-shelf items. Planning ahead is important for marketing schedules, especially if samples are needed for approval prior to final production.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 183 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 183 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 183 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 183 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 183 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
