Pantone™ PMS 127 U

Pantone PMS 127 U is a bright, saturated yellow, which means coverage and hide can be more challenging than with neutral or darker colors. It is common to need additional coats to achieve an even, uniform appearance, especially on darker or uneven substrates.

For best results, apply PMS 127 U over a light or white base and allow each coat to dry before evaluating coverage. Planning for extra material and time helps avoid surprises during brand-facing applications.

The Pantone PMS 127 U color target stays the same, but the paint type should be chosen based on where it will be used. For interior projects like displays, exhibits, or prototypes, select an interior paint option that fits your substrate and finish needs.

For exterior or exposed installations, choose an exterior-rated paint option so the coating can handle weather and sunlight. Always base the decision on exposure and durability needs, not on the Pantone code itself.

When approving PMS 127 U, compare samples under consistent lighting and on the same type of substrate whenever possible. Differences in lighting or surface texture can make bright yellows appear lighter, darker, or more saturated than expected.

Allow the paint to fully dry and cure before making a final judgment. Evaluating too early can lead to incorrect decisions, especially with vivid Pantone colors.

To order PMS 127 U, start by confirming the Pantone code and suffix are correct for your project. Then select the paint format that fits your application, such as spray paint or another available option.

Next, choose the appropriate sheen, quantity, and any additional options shown on the product page. Double-check these selections before checkout, since Pantone colors are custom mixed and ordering accuracy is critical.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
