PMS 2143 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, designed for standardized brand and identity specification. This color is energetic, saturated, and modern, conveying a technical yet expressive vibe. It is frequently described as clean, dynamic, assertive, and visually striking with a pronounced blue-violet character.

PMS 2143 C displays a moderately dark appearance, supported by an LRV of 22.66. The color has a cool temperature, leaning toward the blue side of the purple spectrum. The saturation is high, resulting in a bold, vivid visual impact. The undertone is strongly blue-purple, with minimal visible warmth. The color’s perceived vibrancy and depth can shift based on finish (matte vs. gloss), with glossier finishes amplifying saturation and brightness.

PMS 2143 C works well for branding displays, exhibit components, and environmental graphics requiring a modern, high-visibility blue-violet. To achieve accurate visual results, evaluate the color in both the intended lighting and specified finish before final application. As with many highly saturated PMS colors, coverage may require additional coats, and differences in gloss or substrate can noticeably influence the perceived depth and brightness. When specifying for multi-material environments, sample the color on each surface to confirm alignment with Pantone standards.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2143 C

What is the difference between the PMS 2143 C name and its code, and how do I order the correct color?

The PMS 2143 C code is a precise identifier in the Pantone Matching System. It is important to use the full code, including the suffix 'C', when ordering to ensure you receive the exact target color. The name 'PMS 2143 C' refers to this specific blue-violet shade used in branding and display applications. Always confirm the color code with your brand standards and provide it when placing your order to avoid receiving the wrong version or finish.

How many coats should I expect for PMS 2143 C, and does the undercoat matter for coverage?

PMS 2143 C is a highly saturated blue-violet, which often requires more than one coat to achieve uniform coverage, especially over light or contrasting substrates. Using an appropriate undercoat or primer can help improve hide and color consistency. For best results, consider a primer that matches the expected finish, test coverage on your actual substrate, and allow ample drying time between coats.

Are there special safety or VOC considerations when using PMS 2143 C paint products?

The safety requirements and VOC levels for paint matched to PMS 2143 C depend on the specific paint type and format you select. Always review the product safety data sheet (SDS) before use and follow all recommended safe handling, ventilation, and application procedures. If VOC content or regulatory compliance is critical for your project, confirm these details with the supplier before ordering.

How can I get help choosing the right paint type for PMS 2143 C for my project?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2143 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 2143 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2143 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
