PMS 698 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a pale, low-saturation pink often described as gentle, understated, and muted. The vibe is professional, soft, approachable, and reserved. This color provides a subtle option for applications requiring a non-intrusive, calm visual result. The Pantone PMS system defines it for consistent reproduction in branding, displays, and identity projects.

PMS 698 C has a notably light appearance, with an LRV of 67.99 indicating high reflectance and brightness.

The color displays a predominantly cool undertone, though the pink base introduces a subtle warm bias.

The saturation is low, producing a muted effect rather than an intense or vivid look.

The undertone is soft pink with a desaturated quality.

The color’s lightness means it can be sensitive to environmental lighting and finish selection, particularly between matte and gloss options.

PMS 698 C performs best in environments seeking gentle color without strong visual impact, such as background fields in branded displays, retail elements, or environments where a soft corporate accent is desired. Check lighting and finish closely, as this color shifts noticeably with changes in light temperature and gloss level. It maintains a distinct identity compared to more saturated or darker pinks and is less likely to overpower other visual elements in a palette.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 699 C — Lighter, has slightly less pink saturation and appears closer to an off-white.
  • PMS 700 C — Warmer and more chromatic, with a more pronounced pink tone.
  • PMS 203 C — Darker and more saturated, presenting a stronger pink identity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 698 C

How is Pantone PMS 698 C used for sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 698 C is often specified by brand teams as a color standard for signage, display elements, and exhibit components. Using PMS 698 C paint helps align fabricated items with broader brand identity requirements. However, because materials and lighting can affect appearance, it is important to evaluate PMS 698 C on the actual substrate and under display lighting before final production. Ordering a sample for approval is recommended to avoid alignment issues later in the build process.

What should I plan for when painting with Pantone PMS 698 C in terms of hide and undercoat?

Pantone PMS 698 C is a pale, low-saturation pink, which means it may have lower opacity on some substrates, particularly dark or contrasting surfaces. For best results and more uniform coverage, apply PMS 698 C over a white or similarly light undercoat. You may need multiple coats to achieve full hide, depending on the substrate and finish. Consider testing on your material first to confirm coverage needs before scaling up.

What does it mean to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 698 C?

Ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 698 C means your product is custom-matched to the visual color target defined by Pantone in their PMS system. This target is for visual brand consistency across projects, not a guarantee of a specific formula, materials, or sheen. Actual appearance may vary based on substrate, finish, and lighting, so it is important to align expectations and consider sampling for approval before large-scale orders.

How should I use samples of PMS 698 C in a brand approval workflow?

For brand-critical applications, order a sample of PMS 698 C paint and apply it to the intended substrate before your main production run. Review the color in the actual lighting and environment where the fabricated element will be installed. This step helps ensure PMS 698 C meets visual expectations and receives brand or client signoff before you commit to a full order or fabrication process.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 698 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 698 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 698 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
