PMS 614 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, which is a standardized global color specification tool used in branding, marketing, and industrial design. This color offers a restrained, natural vibe that is muted, understated, and subtle. PMS 614 C’s appearance combines utility and neutrality, making it operationally useful for applications requiring a gentle yellow-green impression without visual intensity.

PMS 614 C appears distinctly light based on its high light reflectance value (LRV 74.16). The color exhibits a cool-to-neutral undertone with a tendency toward yellow-green, not overtly warm. PMS 614 C is characterized by low to medium saturation, resulting in its muted and modest visual profile. The undertone is earthy and subdued, making the color less likely to shift dramatically under typical lighting conditions. The color’s muted quality helps minimize sensitivity to gloss or sheen changes, but a very glossy finish may introduce slight yellow highlights.

PMS 614 C is commonly selected when a light, neutralizing yellow-green is needed to convey approachability or wayfinding clarity without attracting excess attention. Display fabricators and brand implementers should confirm the color under the installation’s primary lighting type, as strong cool or warm light can alter its perception. Among yellow-green PMS colors, PMS 614 C is less saturated and less likely to dominate adjacent hues, providing calm visual separation without strong contrast.

Similar colors:
PMS 615 C — Similar but a shade lighter and slightly less chromatic, appearing more off-white.

PMS 613 C — Slightly darker and more saturated, giving a stronger yellow-green appearance.

PMS 5865 C — Warmer and more olive in tone, with a deeper, earthier effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 614 C

What does it mean to order Pantone PMS 614 C paint? Is it an exact formula or something else?

When you order Pantone PMS 614 C paint, you are requesting a color matched visually to the PMS 614 C standard. This reference is part of the Pantone Matching System, which sets a visual target for consistent color perception across different materials. Ordering Pantone PMS 614 C paint means you are receiving a paint intended to look like the PMS 614 C color under typical conditions, but it is not a proprietary Pantone formula, specific paint chemistry, or a guarantee of identical appearance across all coatings or finishes. Always confirm the result by checking a sample on your intended material under your actual lighting before proceeding with larger orders.

When is it appropriate to specify a standard Pantone PMS 614 C match in paint for my project?

Specifying a standard Pantone PMS 614 C match is suitable when your goal is visual consistency with the PMS color reference, such as for brand-facing signage, display components, prototype parts, or temporary marketing environments. It is appropriate when you need the paint to visually align with the Pantone standard rather than match a previous coating or substrate. If your brand standards call out PMS 614 C and you are working on displays, pop-ups, exhibits, or similar contexts where the Pantone color serves as the visual target, a standard match is the right approach.

What steps should I follow to accurately compare my Pantone PMS 614 C paint sample for approval?

To accurately compare your Pantone PMS 614 C paint sample, evaluate the sample after the coating has fully dried and cured according to manufacturer instructions. Make sure to compare the sample on the same type of substrate as the final application. Check the color under the primary lighting that will be present in the installed environment, as different light types can alter the appearance. Always use a physical Pantone PMS 614 C reference when making your approval decision and avoid judgment under mixed or unusual lighting conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 614 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
