PMS 5815 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, widely used for brand and specification work across marketing, signage, and product design. This color presents as a dark, muted olive green with understated, utilitarian, functional, and grounded qualities. It gives a reserved and controlled presence and is frequently perceived as stable and discreet. Its chroma is moderate, with limited saturation relative to more vivid brand shades.

- PMS 5815 C appears dark, with a low LRV of 5.84. - The color exhibits a cool to slightly warm olive character, sitting between yellow-green and brown. - Saturation is moderate; the color is clearly chromatic but not vivid. - Undertones are muted yellow-brown, providing an earthy impression. - The appearance may shift slightly with changes in gloss or lighting; mattes emphasize its muted quality, while higher sheens may make undertones more apparent.

PMS 5815 C works well where a brand or project requires an olive tone that conveys stability, discretion, or an industrial sensibility, avoiding excessive brightness. It is suitable for components, graphics, or backgrounds that need to recede or support more prominent colors. Due to its darkness and muted chroma, color shifts under variable lighting or glossy finishes should be tested with samples before specification. Compared to lighter or cleaner olives, PMS 5815 C appears significantly earthier and less vibrant, particularly in direct comparison.

Similar colors:
PMS 448 C – Similar olive-brown, but PMS 448 C is darker and appears even more muted.

PMS 5753 C – Another olive green, but PMS 5753 C is slightly lighter and leans more green than brown.

PMS 7497 C – Lighter and warmer than PMS 5815 C, appearing more yellow-olive and less muted.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5815 C

Why might PMS 5815 C look different on metal, plastic, or wood even when specified as Pantone?

PMS 5815 C can appear different across materials because each substrate interacts with paint or ink in its own way. Factors like surface absorbency, texture, and gloss level all affect the final look. For brand projects using PMS 5815 C, evaluate color appearance on the actual material and finish to confirm it meets brand expectations before large-scale production.

How do I decide between matte and gloss when ordering PMS 5815 C for a brand or display project?

The finish you choose for PMS 5815 C will influence its visual impact. Matte finishes emphasize the color's subdued and earthy appearance, reducing glare and keeping reflections to a minimum. Gloss and semi-gloss finishes increase surface shine and may make the olive undertones more apparent, adding vibrancy but introducing reflections. Consider the lighting, distance, and whether you want a muted or more eye-catching effect for your specific application. Testing both finishes on your intended material helps guide the best choice.

Is PMS 5815 C suitable for touch-up of an existing olive-colored product or coating?

PMS 5815 C should not be used as a touch-up specification for existing products. Pantone standards identify target colors but do not specify sheen, process, or the influence of an aged or weathered surface. For existing finishes, even an exact PMS 5815 C match may look different due to differences in gloss or substrate. Use Pantone for brand-facing new work, not for repairing or blending into prior coatings.

How should I use sampling for PMS 5815 C to support brand approval before full production?

Order a sample of PMS 5815 C in the exact material and finish you intend to use, and evaluate it under the same lighting as your installation. This step lets you confirm color acceptance and gloss before committing to large runs. Sampling is essential for brand standards and avoids issues with appearance shifts that can occur with different substrates or lighting.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5815 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5815 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 5815 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5815 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
