PMS 5793 C from the Pantone Matching System is a low-saturation, light olive green with a subtle yellow undertone and a moderate light reflectance value. This color presents a calm, natural, and unobtrusive appearance, often characterized as muted, earthy, clean, and technical. Its impression is subdued and professional, making it suitable for support roles in branding, marketing environments, and industrial design where a non-dominant yet distinctive color cue is required.

- PMS 5793 C appears light in value, with an LRV of 53.21. - The color has a generally cool to neutral olive cast. - PMS 5793 C shows low to moderate saturation, resulting in a subdued, earthy presence. - The undertone is subtly yellow-green, leaning toward an organic, muted olive rather than a bright or grassy hue. - This color is functionally matte in demeanor and is minimally sensitive to finish, though variations in gloss can influence perceived chroma.

- PMS 5793 C is used for wayfinding accents and environmental graphics in settings favoring an unobtrusive, natural color accent. - The color is specified in branded product displays where a muted green is needed to support rather than compete with primary brand colors.

PMS 5793 C works well as an accent or background color where a low-contrast, natural note is required to complement bolder colors or provide visual calm. In architectural and display contexts, it is effective for branding elements that seek to blend with organic or subdued palettes. Due to its moderate lightness and low saturation, it generally maintains color consistency across different substrates, but always verify with a physical standard and sample in situ lighting. When used in large fields or under cool light, the green hue may appear slightly more pronounced.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5793 C

How does surface texture affect how PMS 5793 C appears in branding or display projects?

Surface texture can significantly influence how PMS 5793 C reads in your application. Smooth, glossy surfaces tend to reflect more light and show the color as slightly brighter and less muted. Matte or textured substrates scatter light, increasing the perceived softness or depth of PMS 5793 C and potentially making the color appear more subdued or even a shade darker. Texture can also accentuate shadows, affecting uniformity in large installations. Always sample PMS 5793 C on the actual finish and material to confirm it meets your visual expectations before proceeding with a full rollout.

What should I consider when selecting a sheen for PMS 5793 C for a brand environment?

When choosing a sheen for PMS 5793 C, think about the intended viewing distance, lighting, and substrate. Higher sheens like gloss or semi-gloss will make PMS 5793 C appear slightly lighter and a bit more saturated, while flatter finishes deliver a subtler and more muted appearance. For most brand and marketing applications seeking an unobtrusive visual impact, a satin or matte finish is typically preferred for PMS 5793 C. Always coordinate with your brand team to confirm if there are specific finish requirements, and sample the sheen on your actual substrate before full production.

How closely will PMS 5793 C paint match the color seen in a Pantone book?

Pantone books serve as reference standards for PMS 5793 C, but differences can occur when translating this color to paint. Paint appearance depends on factors like sheen, substrate, and application method. PMS 5793 C may look slightly different compared to a swatch in a Pantone book, especially under different lighting and finishes. For critical brand projects, always compare a dry paint sample of PMS 5793 C on the intended material and finish to your Pantone guide, and review the results under your specific lighting conditions before finalizing production.

What is the best way to achieve a uniform appearance when applying PMS 5793 C over a large surface?

To ensure PMS 5793 C looks consistent across a large area, use the same application method and product batch throughout the project. Plan for even coverage and apply the recommended number of coats, letting each coat dry fully before adding the next. Inconsistent film build, skipping primer, or changing application technique can cause patchiness or visible color variation. When possible, maintain a wet edge and avoid stopping midway across highly visible sections. Sampling on your substrate first helps confirm that PMS 5793 C delivers the intended appearance across your full installation.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 5793 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
