PMS 552 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, which provides standardized color communication for branding, marketing, and design professionals. The color presents a soft, restrained, and distinctly cool blue character, balanced enough to function in environments where subtlety, professionalism, and clarity are prioritized. Its overall vibe can be described as understated, contemporary, calm, technical, and clean.

PMS 552 C appears as a light toned color, with an LRV of 60.3, offering moderate reflectivity that prevents both glare and dullness. The color presents a cool temperature, tending toward blue with a hint of green in its undertone. PMS 552 C demonstrates low to moderate chroma, resulting in a soft, muted, and less saturated appearance. The undertone is subtle blue-green, with a slightly grayish cast that enhances its versatility and subdued look. The color is not especially sensitive to finish, though increased gloss may slightly increase perceived saturation and highlight subtle shifts in tone.

PMS 552 C works well where a sophisticated, quiet brand presence is needed or where a lighter blue can provide environmental calmness without drawing excessive attention. It is useful in spaces where color must suggest order, reliability, or technical clarity. For best results, review finish and lighting impacts, as daylight or cooler artificial lighting will emphasize its muted blue-green qualities. Compared to similar light blues in the PMS range, PMS 552 C will appear more restrained and desaturated, reducing the risk of unintended vibrancy or visual noise in corporate, healthcare, or educational settings.

Similar colors:
PMS 551 C is lighter and even less saturated, yielding a paler, more neutral blue effect.

PMS 550 C is slightly darker and exhibits a bit more chroma, appearing stronger and more prominent.

PMS 5523 C is similar in lightness but shifts greener, for applications requiring a blue-green with a hint of aqua.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 552 C

Can Pantone PMS 552 C be directly converted to other paint company colors?

Pantone PMS 552 C is a standardized color defined by Pantone, not by any paint company. Most paint brands have their own unique color palettes, and direct cross-references are rarely exact. This means that matching PMS 552 C to another brand's color code may result in noticeable differences in color or finish, especially for light or vivid tones. For brand or display projects where brand accuracy matters, always specify your requirement as Pantone PMS 552 C and do not substitute with a claimed equivalent from another system.

What paint formats can I order for Pantone PMS 552 C?

Pantone PMS 552 C is available in several formats including custom spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles. Depending on your project, you may also request other coatings such as epoxy, urethane, or interior and exterior housepaint. Choose spray paint for fast, even coverage on displays or fabricated components, paint pens for detailed graphic elements, and brush-in-cap bottles for small-area application or prototyping. Always confirm format and substrate compatibility for your intended use to ensure brand-consistent results.

How does specifying Pantone PMS 552 C help ensure a consistent brand experience?

Specifying Pantone PMS 552 C allows marketing, display, and fabrication teams to target an exact, standardized color, supporting visual consistency across all branded materials. By using the PMS 552 C code, you communicate a precise target that can be matched across different vendors and materials, reducing the risk of inconsistent color or off-brand results in displays, environments, or marketing assets.

When should I sample Pantone PMS 552 C before full production?

Sampling PMS 552 C is strongly recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or where approval is required by brand stakeholders. It is also important to sample when your substrate, finish, or lighting might affect the color appearance, or when maximum brand or client acceptance is needed. Sampling helps confirm that PMS 552 C looks correct in your actual environment and on your chosen material before committing to full-scale production.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 552 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 552 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 552 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 552 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 552 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
