PMS 340 C is a Pantone Matching System color, positioned within the Pantone PMS collection. This color maintains a crisp, saturated, and professional character, with a distinctly cool tone and prominent presence. It offers a technical, assertive, and highly visual vibe, frequently associated with applications requiring strong brand recognition and visibility.

PMS 340 C presents as a dark, saturated bluish green with strong visibility. The color has a cool tendency, favoring blue undertones over true neutral greens. It exhibits high chroma, meaning it appears bold and vibrant under most lighting. PMS 340 C contains subtle bluish undertones, especially evident in indirect lighting. The color displays moderate to low light reflectance (LRV 19.27), contributing to its deep appearance. This color is sensitive to finish and lighting; glossier finishes intensify its chroma, while matte finishes may appear slightly subdued.

PMS 340 C is frequently associated with branding programs where a distinctive, strong green hue is integral to identity elements. The color is often used in high-visibility signage, event graphics, and branded display fabrications in both indoor and outdoor environments.

PMS 340 C is a technical, visually strong color selection suitable for applications that demand consistent, recognizable branding. It works well in spaces and materials where color accuracy, contrast, and presence are critical. Lighting can have a significant impact on perceived hue and depth—direct light accentuates the blue undertone, while indirect or dim light may render it deeper and less vibrant. The color's high chroma and relatively low LRV may result in lower coverage on some substrates, so additional coats could be needed for uniform appearance. Surface preparation and finish choice influence visual outcome and should be evaluated alongside physical samples.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 340 C

What does ordering PMS 340 C in paint actually mean?

Ordering PMS 340 C in paint means you are requesting a paint color made to match the Pantone Matching System visual color standard for PMS 340 C. This is a visual target used for brand consistency, not a specific paint formula or a guarantee of appearance on every substrate or in every finish. The paint aims to visually match a new, clean Pantone PMS 340 C reference under standard lighting, but actual appearance can vary depending on substrate, finish, and lighting. Always confirm with a physical sample before large-scale application or brand signoff.

How does sheen affect the appearance of PMS 340 C paint, and how should I choose the right finish?

The sheen you choose for PMS 340 C paint strongly affects its perceived brightness and depth. Glossier finishes will make the color look more vibrant and may increase the blue-green chroma, while flat or matte finishes can make PMS 340 C appear deeper or slightly muted. For brand-facing displays and signage, select a sheen that reflects your intended visual impact, viewing distance, substrate, and lighting. Always compare a sample in the actual environment before making final decisions, as finish can shift the appearance significantly.

Can I use a different paint brand''s color code as a substitute for Pantone PMS 340 C?

Pantone PMS 340 C does not have a reliable one-to-one equivalent in other paint brand color systems. Each paint company has its own color formulations and palettes, especially for vivid, saturated hues like PMS 340 C. Attempting to cross-reference codes between brands can lead to visible color differences which may not meet brand standards. For applications needing accurate color reproduction, always specify PMS 340 C directly and verify the result against a physical Pantone reference.

When is a primer needed for painting with PMS 340 C?

A primer may be needed when using PMS 340 C paint if you are painting over bare materials, surfaces with stains or strong contrasting colors, or substrates that can affect adhesion. Highly saturated colors like PMS 340 C can have lower hide and may require a primer to improve coverage and uniformity. Primer choice will depend on the substrate and environment. Review primer guidance for your specific application to ensure optimal results and long-term visual consistency.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 340 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 340 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 340 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
