A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 27925 is a very light, low-chroma off-white. It reads as a soft near-white with a slight yellow-green cast, so it is cleaner than beige but not as neutral as a pure white.

MyPerfectColor custom-matched spray paint made to this Fed Standard 595C reference can be used for touch-up on equipment panels, enclosures, cabinets, access covers, switch plates, brackets, and fabricated parts that need to follow a government color standard. It is also useful for color-coding light fixtures, carts, housings, and small hardware where a light specification match matters.

Because this is a very light color, substrate color, surface texture, and film build can affect the finished result. Darker undercoats, scratches, or patch repairs may show through more readily, and sheen differences can make the color read slightly brighter or warmer. For repair work beside an older coating, a standard-reference match may still differ from an aged or weathered original finish.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.

We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]

The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.

The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
    1 = gloss
    2 = semi gloss
    3 = matt

The second digit indicates the color group;
      0 = Brown     5 = Blue
      1 = Red         6 = Grey
      2 = Orange   7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
      3 = Yellow     8 = Fluorescent
      4 = Green

The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.

While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 27925 *

What does Fed Std 595C 27925 mean, and what does it not define?

Fed Std 595C 27925 identifies a government color reference target. It does not by itself define the coating chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, corrosion protection, or formal approval status. MyPerfectColor supplies a match of Fed Std 595C 27925, so if your project also has a coating-system or compliance requirement, confirm that separately before ordering.

Will Fed Std 595C 27925 match an older in-service coating exactly?

Not always. Even when the code is correct, weathering, fade, sheen, texture, and prior coating differences can make a repaired area look different from the surrounding finish. For touch-up beside an aged coating, a standard color match may be close but not identical. If visual consistency is critical, a match to the existing part or a full-part repaint may be the better path.

How should I plan dry time and recoating for Fed Std 595C 27925 paint?

Dry-to-touch, recoat timing, and full cure are different milestones. The correct schedule depends on the specific product format you order, such as spray paint or touch-up paint. Follow the instructions for that product rather than assuming the color code alone tells you when to recoat or handle the part.

What should I confirm before ordering Fed Std 595C 27925 custom-matched paint?

Confirm the exact color code, the product type, the finish, and the quantity before you place the order. Custom-matched paint for Fed Std 595C 27925 is made to order, so custom color matches should be reviewed carefully before purchase. If the details are wrong, the result may not fit the project and the custom order may not be returnable or refundable.

Can Fed Std 595C 27925 look different after application depending on finish?

Yes. Gloss, matte, satin, texture, and film build can all change how Fed Std 595C 27925 reads after it is applied. The code defines the color target, but the finish and application details affect the final appearance. If the project needs a specific look, choose the finish and product format with that in mind.
