A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 14193 reads as a medium-deep green with a distinct cool, blue-leaning undertone. It has enough chroma to look clean rather than muddy, but the lower LRV means it still appears fairly dark on larger surfaces.
MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in this government standard is suited to spray work on brackets, panels, enclosures, housings, switch covers, machine guards, racks, railings, and other fabricated parts where a specific Fed Std 595C target is required. It can also be used for color-coding maintenance equipment, support hardware, prototypes, or restoration pieces when you need a repeatable reference across metal, plastic, or previously coated components.
Because this is a fairly saturated green, coverage can be more sensitive over dark, uneven, or contrasting substrates, and sheen differences can change how deep or bright it looks after application. For touch-up work beside older coatings, the standard code may match the target color while the existing part still shows aging, fade, or gloss differences. If the part is acceptance-critical or matched to an in-service finish, compare against the project requirement or existing surface rather than the code alone.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 14193 is a government color reference target. It tells you which color to match, but it does not by itself define the paint chemistry, gloss level, surface prep, coating system, or any formal approval status.
When you order, you are selecting MyPerfectColor paint matched to the selected Fed Std 595C 14193 reference, not an official government-issued coating system.
Not always. Even if the code is correct, an older in-service coating can look different because of fade, weathering, sheen changes, texture, film build, or the original coating system.
If you are touching up next to an aged finish, a standard-reference match may still be visible. In those cases, a match to the existing part or a full-part repaint can be the better choice.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 14193 is commonly used for specification-driven work such as equipment parts, panels, brackets, enclosures, housings, carts, fixtures, training aids, mock-ups, and color-coded hardware.
It is a practical choice when a drawing, manual, procurement package, or maintenance requirement calls for this government color reference.
The Fed Std 595C 14193 code is the color reference. The SDS, technical data, and product-specific handling information apply to the MyPerfectColor paint you choose.
If your project is acceptance-critical or contract-controlled, review the product documentation and the project requirements separately. The color code alone does not establish full compliance or approval.
Dry time, recoat timing, and full cure depend on the specific MyPerfectColor product format and chemistry you order for Fed Std 595C 14193.
Plan around the product data sheet for the selected paint, and do not assume dry-to-touch means ready for handling or recoating. If the project is critical, test on a sample first so you can confirm timing before painting the final part.
