A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 13415 reads as a warm golden-orange with a strong yellow lean and relatively high chroma. It has a bright, active character rather than a muted or earthy one, and the medium depth keeps it from looking washed out.

MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint for this Fed Standard color reference can be used on panels, brackets, housings, enclosures, cabinets, support hardware, grille covers, and fabricated parts that need to follow a specified government color standard. It is a practical fit for maintenance touch-up, color coding, prototypes, training hardware, and other specification-driven parts where the target is the stated reference color rather than an aged nearby finish.

Because this is a vivid color, coverage over dark or uneven substrates may take more than one coat to look uniform. Finish, film build, and surface texture can all shift how orange, yellow, or dense the color appears once applied, and gloss levels can make surface defects or sheen differences more noticeable.

If you are matching an in-service part, keep in mind that the Fed Std 595C code is a reference target and may not duplicate a coating that has faded, weathered, or changed sheen over time. For acceptance-sensitive work, the surrounding finish condition may matter as much as the color code itself.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.

We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]

The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.

The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
    1 = gloss
    2 = semi gloss
    3 = matt

The second digit indicates the color group;
      0 = Brown     5 = Blue
      1 = Red         6 = Grey
      2 = Orange   7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
      3 = Yellow     8 = Fluorescent
      4 = Green

The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.

While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 13415 *

Does Fed Std 595C 13415 define the full coating system, or only the color target?

Fed Std 595C 13415 defines a government color reference target. It does not by itself choose the paint chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, corrosion protection, or approval status for your project.

If your drawing, manual, or procurement package calls out Fed Std 595C 13415, use that code to identify the color, then confirm the product format and coating system your job requires. MyPerfectColor supplies paint matched to the selected government color reference, not an official government-issued coating system.

Will Fed Std 595C 13415 match an older coated part that has already been in service?

Not always. A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 13415 is the reference color target, but an older finish may have faded, weathered, changed sheen, or picked up surface texture differences over time. A correct standard match can still look different next to an aged or worn coating.

For touch-up work beside an existing finish, compare the repaired area to the actual part before committing to a full job. If the surrounding coating is heavily aged or appearance-critical, a full-part repaint or a match to the existing part may be the safer choice than matching only the standard code.

What documentation comes with a MyPerfectColor match for Fed Std 595C 13415?

The Fed Std 595C 13415 code is the color reference. The SDS and product data belong to the specific MyPerfectColor product and chemistry you order, such as the spray paint or another selected format.

If you need project documentation, verify both parts separately: the color code for the reference target and the product paperwork for the chosen coating. Do not assume the color code alone provides the SDS, technical data, or compliance details for the coating system.

What should I confirm before ordering Fed Std 595C 13415 as a custom color match?

Before ordering Fed Std 595C 13415, confirm the exact government color code, the product type, the finish you need, and the quantity required for the job. Small ordering mistakes are harder to correct after a custom color match is made.

Custom-made color matches are not returnable or refundable, so review the specification carefully before purchase. If the job depends on an exact match to a particular standard reference, make sure the code and product selection are correct before you submit the order.

How should I prepare metal or an existing coating before applying Fed Std 595C 13415?

For Fed Std 595C 13415, start with clean, dry, grease-free surfaces. On bare metal or repaired areas, remove contamination, address corrosion, and use the primer or coating system that fits the substrate and environment. On existing coatings, scuffing and adhesion testing are often needed so the new paint can bond properly.

Because substrate condition affects both adhesion and final appearance, it is smart to test on the actual part before coating a larger area. That is especially important when you are working over mixed substrates, older finishes, or parts that must visually match nearby surfaces.
