Step 1: Select Paint Type / Application

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to Dunn Edwards DE5962 Ode To Purple is a cool, softened purple with a blue-violet undertone and a noticeable gray cast. It reads as a medium-depth color rather than a bright violet, so the final look can shift with sheen, film build, and the surface underneath.

This match is a practical choice for spray-painting small parts and removable items such as switch covers, vent grilles, speaker grilles, frames, brackets, shelving accents, hardware, and other fixtures that need to follow a known paint reference. It can also be used on PVC, metal, wood, baskets, or previously coated accessories when a controlled purple tone is needed on a compact surface.

With an LRV of 32.56 and moderate chroma, this color should cover more predictably than a highly saturated purple, but it can still show substrate contrast if the base is dark, uneven, or glossy. Surface prep, coat thickness, and finish selection can all affect how muted or clear the purple reads once dry.

For best results, apply over a properly cleaned and prepared surface and build the color in even coats. Small items with edges, recesses, or textured detail may show gloss and texture changes more readily than flat panels, so consistent spray technique matters.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of Dunn Edwards™ DE5962 Ode To Purple *

How long does DE5962 Ode To Purple custom spray paint need before recoating or handling?

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to DE5962 Ode To Purple is typically dry to the touch within minutes. Plan to recoat in about 1 to 2 hours, and allow about two weeks for full cure before heavy handling or service. Dry-to-touch, recoat, and full cure are different stages, so do not treat them as the same milestone.

If the part will be assembled, installed, or handled often, wait for full cure when possible so the finish has time to harden fully.

Where can I find the SDS for DE5962 Ode To Purple by Dunn Edwards?

The Safety Data Sheet is tied to the MyPerfectColor paint product and chemistry, not to the DE5962 Ode To Purple color name alone. If you need the SDS, check the MyPerfectColor Safety Data Sheets for the exact product you are ordering.

That is the right place to verify safety information before spraying, especially if you are choosing between formats or working on a project with compliance requirements.

Can DE5962 Ode To Purple be ordered as custom spray paint for trim, vents, or hardware?

Yes. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to DE5962 Ode To Purple is useful for small or awkward items such as trim details, fixtures, railings, vents, pipes, hardware, accessories, and similar parts where brushing is inefficient.

If the item will sit next to an existing painted surface, keep in mind that sheen, texture, age, and substrate can change how the match reads after application.

How much DE5962 Ode To Purple spray paint do I need for my project?

Coverage depends on the size of the item, surface texture, hiding power, application method, and how many coats are needed. A typical can of spray paint covers about 20 square feet with one coat, but real-world coverage can be lower or higher.

For DE5962 Ode To Purple, allow extra paint if you are coating a rough surface, a dark substrate, or a part that needs multiple coats for even color.

Will DE5962 Ode To Purple spray paint stick to plastic?

Plastics vary widely, so testing DE5962 Ode To Purple on the actual material is important before committing to the full project. MyPerfectColor spray paint sticks well to most plastics, but prep and primer can make a major difference on difficult or low-energy surfaces.

Use the MyPerfectColor primer to improve adhesion when the surface calls for it, and test a small area first if the part is unusual, flexible, or heavily handled.
