Mask off areas you do not want painted, and if possible, test the color and adhesion on the actual surface before coating the full item.

This matters even with a match of 799 Artifact because prep affects how the finish lays down and how the color reads once applied.

Plastics vary a lot, so the safest approach is to test on the actual plastic before painting the full part. MyPerfectColor spray paint sticks well to most plastics, but adhesion can improve when you use the MyPerfectColor primer made for acrylic enamel. A primer is especially helpful if the plastic is slick, flexible, or previously coated.

If you are painting a PVC pipe, vent, cover, grille, or another plastic part, confirm the material first and do a test spray so you can verify adhesion and appearance before committing to the whole item.

Choose the sheen based on how the item will be used and how much reflectivity you want on the finished surface. Lower sheen finishes usually hide surface flaws better, while higher sheen finishes are typically easier to clean and can look more reflective.

Keep in mind that gloss level changes how a match of 799 Artifact appears once it is applied, so the same color can read differently in flat, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss finishes.

MyPerfectColor offers custom spray paint matched to ICI 799 Artifact which enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish. It is difficult to gauge spray paint coverage because it depends on how you apply it and the amount of overspray, but generally the 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat.
