• If acceptance is to your existing powder-coated parts, there is risk of visible mismatch. Do not rely on the RAL code alone.

To reduce risk, specify the required gloss (e.g., matte/satin/gloss) and any texture. When identical appearance to your powder parts is critical, provide a sample part or the exact powder product code for a custom match, and request a sprayed sample panel for approval before release.

Plan coverage based on the product's TDS, required dry film thickness, number of coats, and application losses. RAL 7023 is a mid-gray with moderate hiding; covering high-contrast substrates may require an extra coat or a gray primer for uniformity.

• Small panels/assemblies: a quart usually handles one coat on modest surface area; verify TDS theoretical coverage and include 10-20% loss for overspray, edges, and complex geometry.
• Large-area repaint: estimate total square footage, multiply by coats, divide by the TDS theoretical coverage per gallon, then add contingency for losses and any color-change coats. Use an appropriate gray primer to minimize coats when hiding dark or high-contrast substrates.

For critical work, confirm the specific product's solids/DFT coverage in the TDS and perform a small test area to validate hiding before committing full quantity.
