• Your acceptance criteria (e.g., visual match at 1 meter, lighting conditions) and any referenced spec.

It can be. A RAL code defines the color target, not gloss or texture. Powder coat (often textured or matte) and liquid paint (often smoother) can read differently even at the same color target.

To reduce risk of rejection:

• Specify the required gloss in gloss units (60 degrees), and note texture. If unknown, send a sample for matching.
• When touching up powder-coated parts, order touch-up in the same sheen (e.g., matte ~10-20 GU, satin ~30-40 GU, gloss ~70+ GU) or provide a sample.
• Align the application method: a smooth liquid touch-up on a heavily textured powder will look different even if the color is correct.
• State your acceptance method (visual match distance, lighting) on the PO.

If appearance needs to blend with an existing coating on the same surface or sightline, use a sample-based match. If the goal is functional repair or cross-material coordination where finish differences already exist, a standard RAL 7010 may be sufficient.

Confirm the exact RAL system and code on the spec before ordering.

• Verify it is RAL Classic 7010 Tarpaulin Grey, not a nearby Classic grey such as RAL 7011 (Iron Grey) or RAL 7012 (Basalt Grey).
• Avoid mixing systems: RAL Classic 7010 is different from any RAL Design or RAL Effect codes.
