RAL 6026 Opal Green Paint

• Acceptance target: If inspection will compare to a RAL standard (fan deck/reference), standard RAL is appropriate. If inspection compares to an installed panel/assembly, order a match to the actual part or provide the OEM powder code.
• Visibility/area: Large, high-visibility surfaces and contiguous panels favor a sample/OEM match. Small repairs and non-adjacent items usually accept standard RAL.
• Process/material: Powder vs liquid and texture/gloss differences can shift perceived hue (blue/green balance). If exact side-by-side appearance is critical, request a match to the part, including gloss and texture. Otherwise, standard RAL is typically suitable.
• Risk control: Aged parts, batch drift, and gloss/texture differences are common reasons for rejection. When in doubt, send a physical sample of the accepted part for matching.

Tip: Specify gloss separately (e.g., matte, satin, semi-gloss, gloss). The RAL code does not define sheen.

• Paint pen: Best for pinpoint chips/scratches (~ up to 2 mm) and hardware. Apply light dabs; expect slight texture differences.
• Brush-in-bottle: Small chips/edges (~ 2-25 mm). Feather into surrounding paint; good control on corners and fasteners.
• Aerosol spray: Blending on panels, doors, guards (up to a few square feet). Multiple light coats give the most uniform appearance; mask to control overspray.

Decision rule: If the repair must visually match an adjacent, glossy powder-coated surface under inspection, consider a sample/OEM match (color and gloss). For functional protection, small chips, or non-adjacent parts, standard RAL 6026 in the format above is typically sufficient. Prime bare metal before topcoat.

• Clean: Remove oils, dirt, and salts with a suitable degreaser. Rinse and dry. Avoid silicone contaminants.
• Remove defects: Scrape/sand off loose/peeling coating and corrosion. Feather edges into sound paint.
• Scuff: Lightly abrade surrounding area (~ 320-600 grit) to degloss and promote adhesion. Vacuum or tack-wipe dust.
• Solvent wipe: Use a compatible solvent on a lint-free cloth. Allow full evaporation.
• Mask: Protect adjacent surfaces to control overspray or brush marks.
• Prime bare substrate: Apply a compatible primer where metal or filler is exposed. Follow recoat windows.
• Apply topcoat thinly: Multiple light coats of RAL 6026 yield better blend than one heavy coat. Maintain recommended temperature/humidity and allow proper cure before service.
• Compatibility check: On unknown powder coats, perform a small test area to confirm adhesion and appearance (hue and gloss) before full repair.

Often yes. For cross-material coordination (e.g., cabinet vs conduit or plastic trim), standard RAL 6026 is typically acceptable because textures and gloss levels already differ. Specify the desired gloss for each item, understanding that powder vs liquid can look slightly different and small hue shifts may be visible.

• Use standard RAL when items are not directly adjacent or when close visual harmony is sufficient.
• Use a sample/OEM match when surfaces are side-by-side, large, or subject to strict inspection where hue and gloss must align closely.
