• Provide substrate and process info (powder vs. liquid, primer, environment) to reduce variability.
• When risk is high or uncertain, obtain a spray-out/sample for verification under the job-site lighting before committing production.

Select the tool based on defect size, location, and acceptance criteria:

• Bright yellows can require multiple light coats for even coverage. Avoid heavy wet coats that can cause color and gloss variation.
• Always test in an inconspicuous area first. Some solvent systems can soften marginally cured or unknown coatings.

Proper prep is essential for adhesion, durability, and color acceptance:

• Inspect existing coating: Verify it is clean, sound, and fully cured. Remove any loose/flaking paint and oxidation.
• Clean: Wash with mild detergent, rinse, and dry. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol or a compatible cleaner to remove oils/silicones. Avoid aggressive solvents (e.g., MEK) on unknown powder coats.
• Feather and de-rust: Sand damaged edges to a smooth taper (P320-P600). Remove rust to bright metal.
• Prime bare substrate: Use a compatible primer (e.g., epoxy for steel; etch/epoxy for aluminum). Allow proper cure, then scuff.
• Scuff surrounding area: Lightly abrade the adjacent zone (gray scuff pad or P600) to create a mechanical key.
• Mask and control overspray: Mask boundaries; if spraying, extend the blend slightly into the scuffed area.
• Application conditions: 15-30 degreesC (60-85 degreesF), RH < 70%, clean and dust-free with good ventilation. Apply multiple light coats with proper flash times.
• Verification: Allow the coating to dry/cure per TDS, then assess color under the same lighting the part will see in service. Lighting can markedly affect the appearance of RAL 1007.
• Safety: Follow PPE and ventilation requirements on the product TDS/SDS.

Note: Gloss and texture influence perceived match versus the RAL 1007 target. Align on required sheen/texture and acceptance method before repair.
