A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 14110 reads as a deep green with a slight yellow cast, sitting in the darker range rather than a bright utility green. It has enough chroma to stay clearly green, but the low lightness gives it a subdued, workmanlike character that can look heavier in gloss and more muted in flatter finishes.
MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to this government color reference is often used where a specified green needs to be carried onto real parts and hardware. It can suit touch-up on panels, brackets, enclosures, cabinets, railings, guards, carts, vent covers, switch plates, speaker grilles, and fabricated supports, especially when the goal is to keep small components visually consistent with a documented standard.
Because this is a dark color, finish and substrate can change the result noticeably. Lighter or uneven base coats may show through during the first passes, and gloss level can make seam lines, sanding marks, and texture differences more apparent. For repair work beside older coatings, the standard code may still be correct while the aged surrounding finish reads differently in sheen or fade.
That distinction matters in maintenance and procurement work: the reference code defines the target color, but not the coating system, cure method, or approval status. For acceptance-sensitive jobs, a sample panel or a match to the actual part can be more reliable than relying on the code alone.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 14110 is a color reference target. It tells you which government standard color to match, but it does not by itself define the coating chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, corrosion system, or any formal approval status.
If your project calls for a match of Fed Std 595C 14110, MyPerfectColor can supply paint matched to that reference, but you still need to choose the right product type and coating system for the job.
Not always. A correct match of Fed Std 595C 14110 can still look different next to an older coating because of fade, weathering, sheen change, texture, or differences in the original coating system.
If the repair is next to a weathered or aged finish, a full-part repaint or a sample match to the existing part may be a better decision than relying on the standard color reference alone.
No. Fed Std 595C 14110 tells you the color target, but it does not choose the product chemistry or durability level for interior use, exterior exposure, abrasion, chemical exposure, or substrate type.
For government standard work, pick the product format and coating system based on the service environment, then use Fed Std 595C 14110 as the color reference.
MyPerfectColor can make a match of Fed Std 595C 14110 in custom spray paint and other formats where available, such as touch-up paint or paint pens.
Choose the format based on the size of the repair, access to the part, and how you plan to apply the coating. The color code is the target, not the product line.
Dry-to-touch, recoat time, and full cure are separate milestones. For a match of Fed Std 595C 14110, the actual timing depends on the selected product format and the conditions during application.
Use the product label or technical data for the exact schedule, and do not assume the color code itself determines dry time or handling time.
