Use spray paint when you want the item itself to be matched to SW2860 Sage rather than using the original Sherwin Williams product. For the cleanest result on detailed pieces, make sure the surface is prepared well and apply the paint in light, even coats.

Finish matters because gloss level changes how much light the coating reflects, which changes how SW2860 Sage reads on the finished item. The same color can look different in matte, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss because the surface reflectivity changes.

If the part is a low-energy plastic, a molded trim piece, or another substrate that tends to resist paint, clean it thoroughly, prep it as directed, and test a small area first. The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
