Start by cleaning off dirt, grease, and contamination, then remove loose rust or loose coating. If the existing finish is sound but glossy, scuff it so the new paint can grip better. The condition, sheen, and texture of the old coating can change how Dulux Ivory Cream 53692 looks after it is sprayed, so test first if the part will sit next to an existing finish.

Choose the finish based on how the item will be used, not just the color match. Lower sheen finishes usually hide surface flaws better, while higher sheen finishes are easier to wipe and look more reflective.
