Match of Formica™ 961-58 Fog *

For direct touch up on a factory-finished Formica surface, choose the option that explicitly says Original Material Match. That is the correct path for Formica 961-58 Fog when the job is shipping damage, installation damage, field cutting, service work, or a small scratch or edge repair because it includes a sheen match.

Other MyPerfectColor formats can still be color-matched to Formica 961-58 Fog, but they are better for separate parts, accessories, or broader repainting, not direct touch up on the original surface.

A match of Formica 961-58 Fog is a factory color reference, but an older installed surface can look different because of sun exposure, wear, cleaning, sheen change, texture, or batch variation. That means the correct color reference does not always produce an exact visual match beside aging material.

If you are touching up next to an existing installed surface, the safest approach is to expect some difference and, when the tolerance is tight, compare against the actual site condition or an existing part instead of relying only on the reference name.

Choose the MyPerfectColor product format that fits the part you are painting and how it will be applied. For Formica 961-58 Fog, direct touch up on the factory-finished surface should use Original Material Match when available because it includes a sheen match.

Water-based housepaint, urethane, and epoxy can still be color-matched to Formica 961-58 Fog, but they are not the right choice for direct touch up on factory-finished building materials. They are better suited to separate parts, accessories, or broader repainting where a sheen-matched touch up is not the goal.

A match of Formica 961-58 Fog should be treated as a laminate color reference for coordinated parts such as fixtures, displays, trim details, edge pieces, accessories, sample boards, kiosks, panels, or fabricated components. It is useful when a separate paintable part needs to blend with the Formica laminate finish.

For the laminate face itself, do not treat the job like a simple paint repair unless the application is specifically set up for that surface. For direct touch up on factory-finished building materials, use an Original Material Match product when that option is offered.

Start by cleaning and degreasing the surface, then use light scuffing only where it is appropriate for the substrate. Primer selection should match the material you are painting, because metal, vinyl, fiber cement, laminate, and previously coated parts do not behave the same way.

It is also smart to test on the actual substrate before committing to the full repair. If the job is direct touch up on a factory-finished building material, use Original Material Match when available because it includes a sheen match.

If you want to touch up, or need a precise match of the color and sheen of the Formica 961-58 Fog, choose spray paint, paint pens or touch up bottles. However, keep in mind that our version of the Formica 961-58 Fog is based on matching an official Formica color sample we have in our archives. The color and sheen of your specific Formica materials may vary. If your laminate is not new, then it is likely that the color has changed over time. If your need for a precise match is critical, we recommend that you send a sample so we can create a touch up solution precisely matching the materials of your specific batch.
