A match of US Government AMS-STD-595 25060 is a dark blue-gray with a cool cast, low chroma, and low light reflectance. It reads more muted than clean, with enough blue to stay identifiable but enough gray to keep the color subdued.
MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to match the selected Fed Standard 595C or AMS-STD-595 reference is a practical spray-paint option for panels, brackets, housings, enclosures, switch covers, vent grilles, rails, hardware, carts, and fabricated parts. It is often used for maintenance touch-up, color-coded accessories, prototypes, and restoration work where the goal is to follow the specified reference on small or medium components.
Because this is a dark, low-LRV color, finish, substrate, and film build can change how it reads after application. Darker surfaces and smoother gloss can make texture, edge build, and sheen differences more noticeable, and touch-up work next to an aged coating may not disappear even when the code match is correct. For acceptance-sensitive jobs, a sample panel or a match to the existing part can be more useful than the code alone.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government AMS-STD-595 25060 is a government color reference target. It tells MyPerfectColor which color to match, but it does not by itself define the coating chemistry, gloss, surface preparation, corrosion system, or any formal approval status.
If your project needs a specific coating system or compliance requirement, treat the color code as only one part of the specification.
MyPerfectColor can match AMS-STD-595 25060 as the reference color, but an older in-service coating may still look different because of fade, weathering, sheen, texture, and prior coating differences.
If the repair will sit next to an aged finish, a match to the existing part or a full-part repaint may be the better choice. The standard-code match is best when the standard itself is the target, such as on new parts or complete repaints.
A match of US Government AMS-STD-595 25060 can be ordered as MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in available formats such as spray paint and other touch-up options, depending on the project and the product line selected.
Choose the format based on how the part will be applied, whether you need small touch-up work or broader coverage, and whether the substrate and finish requirements call for a specific application method.
Dry-to-touch, recoat timing, and full cure are different stages, so plan the job around the specific product format you order for AMS-STD-595 25060.
Use the product label or technical data sheet for the actual timing. Temperature, humidity, film thickness, and substrate condition can change how soon you can handle the part or apply the next coat.
For AMS-STD-595 25060, start with a clean, dry, grease-free surface. Remove loose rust, corrosion, or failing paint, and scuff sound existing coatings so the new paint can bond properly.
If the substrate needs it, use a suitable primer and test the finish on the actual part before doing a larger application. Mixed substrates and repaired areas can behave differently, so a small test is the safest way to confirm adhesion and appearance.
MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to US Government AMS-STD-595 25060 enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen.
