Match of Dulux™ Ironsand *

Finish changes how much light reflects off the coated part, so a match of Dulux Ironsand can look slightly different after application depending on sheen. Lower sheen usually looks less reflective, while higher sheen reflects more light and can make the color read differently on the finished item.

The color code only identifies the target color. It does not define the sheen, so choose the finish based on the part you are painting and how you want the coating to behave on that surface.

Choose the sheen based on the surface and how the item will be used, not just on the color name. A lower sheen is usually less reflective, while a higher sheen can be easier to clean and may be more durable in some uses.

Because sheen changes how the coating reflects light, it can also change how Dulux Ironsand reads after it is applied. If the part needs to coordinate with nearby painted components, match the finish to the application so the final look is consistent for that object.

Coverage depends on the surface size, texture, hiding power, application method, and the number of coats you need. For spray paint, a typical can covers about 20 square feet with one coat.

Other MyPerfectColor paint formats often cover about 400 to 600 square feet, but the actual yield for a match of Dulux Ironsand can be lower on rough, porous, or highly contrasting surfaces. Measure the part first and plan extra product if you expect more than one coat.

Before coating metal or an existing finish with a match of Dulux Ironsand, clean off dirt, oil, and other contamination first. If the surface has rust, loose paint, gloss, or heavy texture, address those issues before you spray because they can affect adhesion and how the color reads.

Sound existing coatings usually benefit from scuffing or deglossing so the new coating can bond more reliably. Bare metal or damaged areas may also need primer before the color coat.

MyPerfectColor offers custom spray paint matched to Dulux Ironsand which enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish. It is difficult to gauge spray paint coverage because it depends on how you apply it and the amount of overspray, but generally the 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat.

MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. This paint sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide paint matched to the Dulux Ironsand, we don't provide any crossover information because this is a subjective determination. Every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, so determining which color is the best approximation is a judgement call.

However, under the color image on a color page there is a link that says "Explore Related Colors". Clicking this link displays colors with similar values and you can look for any colors from the company you want.
