A match of Sherwin Williams SW9171 Felted Wool is a muted warm taupe with a soft gray-brown base and a slight yellow warmth. With an LRV of 28.28, it reads as a medium-dark neutral rather than a light beige, and the low chroma keeps it subdued instead of crisp.
MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to the selected brand color can be useful on vents, switch plates, outlet covers, speaker grilles, brackets, mailboxes, railings, shelf supports, and hardware when a restrained brown-gray finish is needed. It can also work on PVC trim pieces, small cabinet components, baskets, frames, and other removable parts where a matched spray application is more practical than brushing.
Because this is a muted, medium-depth color, coverage is usually more forgiving than with brighter colors, but the final look still depends on the substrate, prep, and finish. A glossier finish can make the warmth read a little more clearly, while flatter finishes tend to soften it. If you are coating a dark or uneven surface, the primer and coat build can affect how even the color appears and how much show-through remains.

If you need the SDS for a MyPerfectColor paint matched to SW9171 Felted Wool, use the MyPerfectColor Safety Data Sheets page for the product chemistry being sold, not the Sherwin Williams color name alone. The SDS information can be found here: https://www.myperfectcolor.com/Safety-Data-Sheets/33970.htm.
If you are comparing products, make sure you are looking at the SDS for the exact MyPerfectColor paint format you plan to order.
The right sheen depends on the surface and how the item will be used. Lower sheen finishes usually reduce reflectivity and can be less revealing on surface texture, while higher sheen finishes are typically easier to wipe clean and look more reflective.
Keep in mind that the same match of SW9171 Felted Wool can look different from one sheen to another, so choose the finish that fits the part you are painting and the level of wear it will see.
Use light, even coats and keep the spray moving so you do not flood the surface. Overlapping passes and avoiding heavy single passes helps reduce runs, uneven sheen, and color buildup.
For the best result, follow the application instructions for the exact MyPerfectColor spray product you ordered and apply enough coats for even coverage without trying to cover all at once.
Confirm SW9171 Felted Wool from a physical Sherwin Williams swatch or a known existing reference whenever possible. Screen images can shift the color, and the MyPerfectColor order will be matched to the original brand color reference you select.
If you are matching a nearby painted surface, remember that age, sheen, and texture can make an existing item read differently from the standard color reference.
Primer depends on the substrate, the condition of the surface, and the paint type you are using. A primer generally does not hurt and can improve adhesion, but it is not always required.
If you are painting a new, slick, repaired, or uneven surface, primer is often the safer choice. Check the prep guidance for the exact MyPerfectColor product format before you order and apply it.

While MyPerfectColor can provide paint matched to the Sherwin Williams SW9171 Felted Wool, we don't provide any crossover information because this is a subjective determination. Every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, so determining which color is the best approximation is a judgement call.
However, under the color image on a color page there is a link that says "Explore Related Colors". Clicking this link displays colors with similar values and you can look for any colors from the company you want.
Keep in mind that this just shows similar colors based on the color values we have stored in our database. It doesn't mean it is the same or give any approximation about how close the color is. You can play around with the Hue, Lightness and Chroma sliders to expand the selection.
