For metal or a previously coated surface, clean away oil, dust, wax, and loose material before you paint a match of 103B Confectionary. Scuff any glossy areas so the new coating has a better surface to grip.

If the metal has rust, peeling paint, chalking, or other contamination, correct those issues first. The condition of the old coating can affect adhesion and can also change how 103B Confectionary looks after it dries, especially if the substrate is uneven or worn.
