A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 26380 reads as a muted, medium-light blue-gray with a restrained cool cast. It is more gray than blue, with low chroma and a soft, technical look rather than a vivid color.

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to this government color reference is often used on equipment panels, electrical enclosures, machine guards, brackets, racks, housings, fixtures, and fabricated parts. It also works for touch-up on carts, covers, switch plates, and other small components where a consistent specification color is needed across metal, plastic, or composite surfaces.

This color can usually cover evenly, but the final appearance still depends on substrate color, surface prep, film build, and sheen. A darker or uneven base may show through more than expected, and touch-up next to an older or weathered coating can reveal differences in gloss or aging even when the reference match is correct. A Fed Std 595C code is a color target, not a coating system, so acceptance-sensitive work may call for a sample panel or a match to the existing part rather than the standard alone.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.

We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]

The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.

The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
    1 = gloss
    2 = semi gloss
    3 = matt

The second digit indicates the color group;
      0 = Brown     5 = Blue
      1 = Red         6 = Grey
      2 = Orange   7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
      3 = Yellow     8 = Fluorescent
      4 = Green

The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.

While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 26380 *

What does Fed Std 595C 26380 mean, and what does it not define for my project?

A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 26380 is a government color reference target. It tells you which color to match, but it does not by itself choose the paint chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, coating system, or formal approval status.

MyPerfectColor supplies paint matched to the selected Fed Standard reference, so if your job has compliance, corrosion, or program-specific requirements, confirm those requirements separately before ordering.

Will Fed Std 595C 26380 match an older in-service finish exactly during touch-up work?

Not always. A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 26380 is the standard reference color, but an older coating can have faded, weathered, or changed sheen, texture, or film build. Even when the color code is correct, the repair area can still read differently next to the existing finish.

If the surrounding surface is aged or the repair is highly visible, a full-part repaint, a sample panel, or an existing-part match may be a better choice than matching the code alone.

Can I return a custom-matched order for Fed Std 595C 26380 if I order the wrong version?

Custom-matched colors are not returnable or refundable, so it is important to confirm the exact government color code, product type, finish, and quantity before you buy. For Fed Std 595C 26380, check that the order matches the specification your project actually calls for.

If you are unsure whether you need spray paint, touch-up paint, or another format, verify that detail first. That is the best way to avoid ordering the wrong custom match.

What product formats can I order for Fed Std 595C 26380?

A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 26380 can be ordered as MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in formats such as spray paint, touch-up paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other available product types. The color code is the reference target, not a product line.

Choose the format based on how you will apply the paint and what the part requires. For example, small repairs may call for a touch-up format, while larger areas may be better suited to spray paint.

How do I choose the right Fed Std 595C 26380 product for indoor, outdoor, or heavy-use service?

The Fed Std 595C 26380 color code does not determine whether a coating is best for indoor use, outdoor exposure, abrasion, or chemical contact. Those decisions depend on the product chemistry, substrate, and service environment.

For Fed Std 595C 26380, select the MyPerfectColor product format and coating type that fit the part and its exposure conditions. If the project is outdoors, sees wear, or has chemical exposure, confirm that the chosen product is suitable for that environment before ordering.
