Etched Glass is a very light gray with a soft cool undertone and only a trace of blue. Its low chroma keeps it restrained rather than crisp, so it reads as a pale neutral instead of a clear white.

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to this selected Behr color reference is well suited to small parts and removable pieces that need a quiet, light finish. It can be used on HVAC vents, speaker grilles, switch plates, access panels, PVC trim pieces, brackets, shelf supports, hardware, and other sprayable components where a pale cool gray is wanted.

Because the color is so light, darker substrates, uneven primer, or older coatings can show through more easily and may need extra coats for even coverage. Its appearance can also shift with surface texture and sheen, with smooth finishes reading a little cleaner and brighter than matte or rough surfaces. With an LRV near 75, it will reflect a lot of light and make surface prep more visible than a deeper color.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of Behr™ MQ3-27 Etched Glass *

How do I confirm Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass before ordering a MyPerfectColor match?

Confirm Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass from a physical swatch, a known existing painted sample, or another trusted original Behr reference rather than from a screen. Screen colors can shift with device settings and lighting, which can lead to ordering the wrong match.

MyPerfectColor uses the selected Behr color reference to make its own custom-matched paint. It is not the original Behr paint product, so the important step is to verify that MQ3-27 Etched Glass is the target color before you place the order.

How much MyPerfectColor paint matched to Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass do I need for my project?

For spray paint, a typical can covers about 20 square feet with one coat on a smooth surface. If you are coating a vent, grille, mailbox, pipe section, bracket, or other small part in Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass, one can may cover multiple items, but the exact amount depends on size, shape, and how many coats you need.

Coverage changes with surface texture, porosity, application method, and how much build is needed to get even color. If the surface is rough, porous, or has strong color contrast, plan for extra material. For larger areas, other MyPerfectColor formats often make more sense than spray paint.

What spray technique works best for Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass?

Use light, even coats with a consistent spray distance and a small overlap on each pass. That helps Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass lay down smoothly on parts like PVC pipe, trim pieces, hardware, vents, or removable fixtures.

Avoid heavy passes, because too much wet paint at once can cause runs, uneven sheen, or a muddy-looking build. Let each coat dry or flash off according to the product directions before adding the next coat. Several light coats usually give better control than one heavy coat.

Which finish should I choose when ordering Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass as a MyPerfectColor match?

Choose the finish based on how the part will be used and how much reflectivity you want on the finished item. The Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass color reference does not by itself define sheen, so the finish you order can change how the matched color reads on the surface.

Higher-gloss finishes usually clean more easily and can look sharper, but they also show surface texture and prep marks more clearly. Lower-sheen finishes reduce reflection, but they can change the way the color appears. If you are matching an existing painted part, try to keep the finish consistent with the surrounding surface whenever possible.

What prep is needed before applying Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass over metal or an existing coating?

Clean the surface first so oil, wax, dirt, and loose material do not interfere with adhesion. If the metal or existing coating is glossy, scuff it before painting so the new MyPerfectColor match of Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass has a better surface to bond to.

Address rust, corrosion, peeling paint, or contamination before you apply the topcoat. The condition of the old coating, along with its gloss and texture, can affect how the new color looks after it dries. If the substrate is bare, damaged, or unknown, a primer may be needed before the matched paint.

How do I convert Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass to a different color from another paint company?

While we can provide Behr MQ3-27 Etched Glass in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another brand.
