Pick the sheen based on how the finished item needs to perform, not just on the Golden Tan color name. Lower-sheen finishes reduce reflectivity and can make surface imperfections less noticeable, while higher-sheen finishes are usually easier to wipe down and look glossier.

The same match of Golden Tan can read differently as sheen changes, so order the finish that fits the object you are painting and the amount of cleanup or wear it will see.

Dry-to-touch, recoat, and full handling readiness are different steps. If you are painting a part, fixture, or accessory, plan for each coat to set before handling the item or moving it into service.

Start by cleaning and degreasing the surface so dust, oils, and residue do not interfere with adhesion. On many surfaces, a light scuff can help, but use the prep method that fits the material you are painting.

Mask off areas you do not want coated, and test on the actual surface before a larger job. That is especially useful on items like PVC pipe, vents, hardware, railings, trim pieces, or other parts that may have different textures or coatings.

Once a match of Golden Tan is applied, lighting, placement, sheen, and nearby surfaces can all change how the color reads on the finished item. A color that looked right in one setting can appear lighter, darker, warmer, or flatter in another.

If the part will be seen in a specific location, evaluate it under the same lighting it will live in. That is the best way to judge the finished result before you paint a larger surface or install the piece.

MyPerfectColor offers custom spray paint matched to ICI Golden Tan which enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish. It is difficult to gauge spray paint coverage because it depends on how you apply it and the amount of overspray, but generally the 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat.

MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. This paint sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
