Match of ICI™ Cultured Pearl *

For Cultured Pearl, the sheen you choose affects more than appearance. A glossier finish reflects more light, can be easier to clean, and often shows the coated surface more clearly. A flatter finish reduces reflection and can make the color read a little softer on the finished item.

If you are matching an existing painted part, try to keep the sheen as close as possible to the surface you are coating. The color reference itself does not define sheen, so the finish choice should be based on the item, its use, and how closely you need the final result to resemble the target surface.

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to Cultured Pearl is useful when you need a practical way to coat small or awkward parts that are hard to paint with a brush or roller. Common examples include trim details, fixtures, railings, vents, pipes, hardware, accessories, and removable parts.

It is also a good option for items like speaker grilles, switch covers, brackets, baskets, and similar pieces where you want a repeatable match of Cultured Pearl on the part itself rather than trying to repaint a large surrounding surface.

Before applying Cultured Pearl, clean the surface, remove grease or residue, and let it dry fully. If the substrate is smooth and the product instructions call for it, a light scuff can help with adhesion. Mask off any areas you do not want coated.

It is also a good idea to test on the actual surface first, especially on plastic, metal, or previously coated parts. Surface prep can affect adhesion, durability, and the way the matched color reads after it dries.

Coverage depends on the size of the item, the texture of the surface, the hiding power needed, the application method, and how many coats you plan to apply. For spray paint, a typical can covers about 20 square feet with one coat.

If you are coating a larger area, other MyPerfectColor paint formats typically cover about 400 to 600 square feet, depending on the product and surface. If the substrate is dark, uneven, or highly textured, plan for extra material and possibly more than one coat.

Use light, even coats instead of heavy passes. Keep the can at a consistent distance, overlap each pass slightly, and move at a steady speed so the finish builds evenly. This helps reduce runs, uneven sheen, and heavy buildup that can change how Cultured Pearl looks on the part.

Allow each coat to dry according to the product instructions before applying the next coat. Dry time can change with temperature, humidity, surface type, and film thickness, so it is better to build the finish gradually than to try to cover everything in one heavy application.

It is difficult to gauge spray paint coverage because it depends on how you apply it and the amount of overspray, but generally the 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat.

Every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, so determining which color is the best approximation is a judgement call.
