A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 25526 reads as a light-to-medium blue-green with a cool lean and a noticeable gray cast. The low chroma keeps it restrained rather than vivid, so it appears more muted and workmanlike than bright or saturated.
For specification-driven work, MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to Fed Std 595C 25526 can be used on panels, housings, brackets, enclosures, switch covers, vent grilles, carts, and other fabricated metal or plastic parts that need to stay aligned to the selected government color reference. It also fits touch-up on smaller components where a consistent standard color is needed across repairs, prototypes, or support equipment.
Because this is a fairly light, low-chroma color, coverage over dark or uneven substrates may take more attention than a deeper shade, and a primer or sealer can help reduce show-through. Finish and surface texture can shift the way the blue-green reads, and a gloss mismatch may make an otherwise correct match look different next to an aged adjacent coating. For acceptance-sensitive work, compare against the existing part or approved sample, not only the code.
MyPerfectColor supplies a custom-matched paint made to the selected Fed Std 595C reference. It matches the standard target, not an official government-issued coating system, and existing in-service coatings may have faded, worn, or changed sheen in ways that the reference chip does not show.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 25526 is a government color reference target, not a complete coating specification. When you order this color, you are selecting MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to a match of US Government Fed Std 595C 25526.
The code does not by itself choose the paint chemistry, gloss level, surface prep, or approval status for your project. If your work has a required coating system or acceptance process, confirm those requirements separately before ordering.
Not always. A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 25526 is matched to the standard reference, but an older in-service part may have faded, weathered, or changed sheen over time.
If you are repairing next to an existing finish, the standard match may still look different on the part. For high-visibility repairs, a full-part repaint or a match to the existing part can be the safer choice.
Yes. The same Fed Std 595C 25526 color can read differently depending on gloss, matte or satin level, texture, and film build.
When ordering MyPerfectColor paint matched to US Government Fed Std 595C 25526, choose the product format and finish that best fit the project requirements. The color code gives you the target color, but the final appearance also depends on how the coating is applied.
For best results, clean and degrease the surface first, then remove loose material and scuff the area so the coating can bond properly. If there is rust, corrosion, or an unknown existing coating, address those conditions before painting.
Because Fed Std 595C 25526 is only the color reference, not the full coating system, it is smart to test on the actual substrate before doing the full job. That is especially important on mixed materials or when painting over existing coatings.
The color code alone does not determine whether the coating is suitable for the service environment. For Fed Std 595C 25526, choose the MyPerfectColor product format and coating type based on the substrate, exposure, abrasion, and any chemical or maintenance demands of the job.
If the part will see exterior exposure, repeated handling, or another demanding environment, make sure the product you select is appropriate for that use before ordering. The government color standard defines the color target, but it does not replace the project's performance requirements.
