A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 34082 reads as a dark, muted green-brown with an olive cast and only moderate warmth. Its low chroma keeps it subdued rather than bright, and the low light reflectance means it can appear fairly deep once applied.
MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in this government color reference is often used for specification-driven spray work on panels, brackets, housings, enclosures, support hardware, carts, and fabricated parts. It can also be useful for maintenance touch-up on metal or plastic components that need to stay aligned with the selected Fed Std 595C target.
Because the color is relatively dark and quiet, surface preparation and sheen still matter. Gloss level, texture, and film build can change how green or brown the finish reads, and uneven substrates may influence the final look more than the color itself. If the part is being repaired next to an older coating, the aged finish may not read the same as the standard reference even when the match is correct.
This code identifies a government color standard, not a complete coating system. For acceptance-sensitive or repair-beside-existing-paint work, the standard reference may be only part of the match question, especially if the existing surface has faded, weathered, or changed sheen over time.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 34082 is a government color reference target. It tells you which color to match, but it does not by itself specify the coating chemistry, gloss, surface preparation, corrosion protection, or any formal approval status. For ordering, this means you are choosing MyPerfectColor paint matched to the selected Fed Standard reference, not an official government-issued coating system.
Not always. Even when the color reference is correct, an older coating can look different because of weathering, fading, sheen changes, texture, film build, or the coating system already on the part. If you are touching up next to an aged finish, the standard code match may be close enough, but for a visible repair on an existing part, an existing-part match or a full-part repaint may be the better choice.
No. Fed Std 595C 34082 tells you the color target, but it does not tell you which product type to use for interior use, exterior exposure, abrasion, chemical exposure, or a specific substrate. Choose the MyPerfectColor format and coating type based on the service environment and the material you are coating, then use the 34082 reference to control the color.
If the procurement package, engineering authority, or inspection process requires a sample panel, an existing-part match, or a project-specific approval step, the standard color code alone is not enough. In those cases, you should confirm the acceptance method before ordering. A Fed Std 595C 34082 match can satisfy the color reference, but it does not replace project-controlled approval requirements.
