A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33711 is a light, warm beige-tan with a muted peach-gold undertone. It reads softer than a clean cream and less brown than a typical tan, with moderate chroma and a fairly bright overall value.
MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to this government color reference can be used on specification-driven parts such as equipment panels, housings, brackets, enclosures, switch covers, hardware, carts, cabinets, and fabricated metal or plastic components. It is also a practical choice for mock-ups, training pieces, and maintenance touch-up where the goal is to keep a component aligned to the selected Fed Standard 595C target.
Because this is a light color, coverage can be more sensitive to a dark or uneven substrate, so surface preparation and primer choice can matter. Finish, film build, and texture may shift the appearance slightly warmer, flatter, or more saturated after application, and gloss differences beside an existing coating can be noticeable even when the color match is close.
For new parts or full repaints, matching the standard reference is usually straightforward. For touch-up next to an older, sun-exposed, or weathered coating, the aged surface may not look the same as the original Fed Std 595C chip, so a standard-code match may not fully blend with the surrounding finish.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33711 is a government color reference target, not a complete coating specification. When you order, you are choosing MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to match that reference. The code does not by itself select the chemistry, gloss, surface prep, corrosion protection, or approval status for your project.
If your drawing, manual, or procurement package calls out 33711, confirm whether it only requires the color reference or also requires a specific coating system or acceptance process.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33711 is a match to the standard reference, which can be different from an existing part that has aged in service. Weathering, fading, sheen changes, texture, and the original coating system can all make a correct code look different beside the old finish.
If you are repairing a visible area next to an aged coating, a standard-color match may still show a difference. For acceptance-critical work, it is often better to compare against the existing part, a sample panel, or the project authority before committing to the full repair.
For Fed Std 595C 33711, dry time, recoat timing, and full cure are separate milestones, and the actual schedule depends on the product format you order. A spray paint may handle differently than touch-up paint, brush-in-cap bottles, or another coating type.
Use the product instructions or technical data for the exact recoat window and handling time. If the project has a tight maintenance window, make sure the selected format fits the timeline before you order.
Fed Std 595C 33711 tells you the color reference, but it does not tell you whether the coating is right for interior use, exterior exposure, abrasion, or chemical contact. Those requirements come from the product chemistry and coating system, not the color code alone.
Choose MyPerfectColor paint matched to 33711 in a format that fits the substrate and service environment of your part. If the surface will see outdoor exposure, wear, or cleaning chemicals, verify that the selected product is suitable for that use before ordering.
For repeat work, reorder by the exact code, Fed Std 595C 33711, and keep the product type and finish consistent across all parts. MyPerfectColor can supply a match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33711, but the final appearance can still shift with substrate, primer, film build, and application method.
If you need multiple parts to look as close as possible to each other, avoid mixing product formats or finishes unless the project allows it. For critical work, document the exact color code, product format, and application process used on the first part so the next order can follow the same setup.
