A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33275 is a warm yellow-brown with a golden undertone and moderate depth. It reads earthy rather than bright, with enough chroma to look distinct without moving into a vivid orange.
MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to match Fed Std 595C 33275 can be used for spray-applied touch-up and finishing on brackets, panels, enclosures, housings, cabinets, railings, fixture hardware, carts, and fabricated parts. It is a practical choice when a drawing, maintenance record, or procurement spec calls for this government color reference across metal, plastic, composite, or previously coated components.
Because the Fed Std 595C code defines the color target, not the coating system, sheen, substrate, and film build still affect the result. A smoother or glossier application can make surface defects and sheen variation more noticeable, while a darker or uneven undercoat may show through more easily if coverage is thin. Repairs next to weathered or sun-exposed paint may also read differently even when the code match is correct.
For acceptance-sensitive work, especially on an in-service part, a match to the existing surface or a sample panel may be worth checking before full application. This helps separate a standard-reference match from the look of an aged, faded, or project-specific finish.

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33275 is a color reference target, not a full coating specification. MyPerfectColor can make paint matched to Fed Std 595C 33275, but you still need to choose the right product type, gloss, surface prep, and coating system for the job. If your project also has corrosion, adhesion, or approval requirements, treat the color code as only one part of the specification.
Not always. Even with the correct Fed Std 595C 33275 match, an aged coating can look different because of fade, weathering, sheen loss, texture, or prior repainting. If the repair area is highly visible or acceptance-critical, a sample panel, an existing-part match, or repainting the full part may be the safer choice.
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33275 can be ordered as MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in spray paint and other formats when available for the project. Choose the format that fits the part, the size of the repair, and the application method you plan to use. The color code is the reference target, while the product format is selected separately.
The code defines the color target, but gloss level, matte or satin finish, texture, film build, and substrate all affect how Fed Std 595C 33275 appears on the finished part. A correct color match can still look different if the surrounding surface has a different sheen or texture. For the closest visual result, match the finish and application method to the project as closely as possible.
Reorder by the exact code, Fed Std 595C 33275, and keep the same product type and finish when possible. For multi-part work, note the substrate and application method because those can change the final appearance even when the color formula is the same. If the project is acceptance-sensitive, keep a record of the approved sample or reference part as well.
