A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 36314 reads as a muted gray-green with a slight olive cast. It sits in a medium-depth range rather than looking bright or highly saturated, and the low chroma keeps it restrained and practical.
MyPerfectColor custom spray paint matched to this government color reference can be used on panels, housings, brackets, enclosures, cabinets, vent covers, railings, mounting plates, and other fabricated parts where a Fed Std 595C or AMS-STD-595 code is called out. It is also a practical option for touch-up on carts, fixtures, training aids, and color-coded hardware when you need a consistent visual target across metal, plastic, or composite parts.
Because this color is subdued, it usually reads evenly on smooth substrates, but sheen, texture, and film build can still shift it toward more gray or more green. Matching the standard code does not guarantee a blend with an aged or sun-exposed part, so repairs next to weathered coatings may still show contrast in color or gloss. For acceptance-sensitive work, compare against the existing finish or a project-approved sample rather than relying on the code alone.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors
The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 36314 *
What does Fed Std 595C 36314 mean when I order MyPerfectColor paint?
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 36314 is a color reference target, not a complete coating specification. When you order MyPerfectColor paint matched to Fed Std 595C 36314, you are selecting the color standard the paint is made to match. You still need to choose the right product type, gloss, surface prep, and coating system for the job.
If your project also has requirements for chemistry, corrosion protection, adhesion, or formal approval, those requirements are separate from the color code itself.
Will MyPerfectColor Fed Std 595C 36314 match an older in-service coating on my part?
It can match the Fed Std 595C 36314 reference, but an older coating on your part may not look the same anymore. Weathering, fade, chalking, gloss loss, texture, and film build can all make the existing finish differ from the standard color.
If you are touching up next to aged paint, the safest decision is often to compare against the existing surface or use a sample panel before committing to a large repair. For some jobs, a full-part repaint gives a better visual result than a spot touch-up.
How do I choose the right MyPerfectColor product for Fed Std 595C 36314 based on the service environment?
The Fed Std 595C 36314 code tells you the color target, but it does not choose the product chemistry for you. Select the MyPerfectColor product format and coating type based on where the part will be used, what the substrate is, and what exposure it will see.
For example, a small touch-up, a fabricated part, and a surface exposed to abrasion or chemicals may call for different product choices even though they all match the same color standard. If the job has interior use, exterior exposure, or substrate-specific needs, make the product choice around those conditions, not the color code alone.
Can the finish change how Fed Std 595C 36314 looks after application?
Yes. Gloss level, matte or satin finish, texture, and film build can all change how Fed Std 595C 36314 appears after it is applied. Two coatings can match the same color reference and still look different if the finish is different.
If the visual result needs to stay close to a nearby surface, make sure you match both the color reference and the finish level as closely as the project allows.
What documentation applies to MyPerfectColor Fed Std 595C 36314 paint?
Documentation such as SDS and product data applies to the specific MyPerfectColor paint product you order, not to the color code by itself. Fed Std 595C 36314 identifies the color reference; it does not supply the product safety or application documents.
If your project is compliance-sensitive, review the documentation for the exact product and confirm that the coating system, approval needs, and project requirements are all covered separately from the color match.
