Higher gloss sheens are usually easier to wipe clean, but they also reflect more light and can make the matched color read differently. Flatter sheens reduce reflection and can hide some surface flaws better, but they are not always as easy to clean.

If the part will be viewed next to other finished pieces, try to keep the sheen consistent with the surrounding surface so the match reads more predictably.

For the most even result, apply light, even coats and keep the spray moving so you do not build up heavy wet spots. Overlap each pass slightly, maintain a consistent distance, and avoid stopping the spray stream while the can or gun is pointed at the part.

Heavy passes can lead to runs, uneven sheen, and a color that builds differently across the surface. Proper prep and following the product directions for dry time and recoat timing are important for a cleaner final result.

Even when the match is correct, the finished appearance can shift because of lighting, sheen, texture, substrate, and nearby surfaces. A match of Clairtone 8161-9 Golden West can read differently on a glossy part than on a flat one, or on a curved object versus a flat panel.
