FAQs about Tiger Drylac

Will your paint stick to Tiger Drylac powder coatings?
MyPerfectColor Paint matching Tiger Drylac colors can be used to paint and touch up Tiger Drylac powder coatings. For most touch up applications, MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel paint which adheres very well to powder coated surfaces. Most touch ups are cosmetic repairs on very small areas and typically primer is not used, but if it is for a larger area and/or it is an exterior application that is more than just cosmetic, a primer is recommended to improve adhesion. The most popular touch up applicators are spray paint, paint pens and touch up bottles. Other paint types and applicators are available. Contact MyPerfectColor support if you have specific questions about the best paint to use for your project.

Keep in mind that our version of the color is based on matching an official Tiger Drylac color sample. The color and sheen of your specific Tiger Drylac batch may vary slightly. If your application requires ultra-critical accuracy, we can formulate a match to your specific batch if you send us a production part or batch sample. Learn more about our color matching service.

How do I repair scratched powder coating?
There are several ways to repair a scratched powder coating. In a case of severe damage, the part may need to be completely stripped and re-powder coated. Some types of powder coatings allow repainted finish to go over a previously painted part with no prep work but this is not always possible and the repainted area most likely will not be as durable. Some very minor scratches may be removed via buffing. You can also use liquid touch-up paint. This is MyPerfectColor’s specialty as we will precisely match both the color and sheen of the powder coat so you can repair the damage. The liquid coating isn’t as durable as the original powder coatings, but we use a strong acrylic enamel designed to dry fast and hard and stick very well to powder coatings.
