FAQs about Color and Design Consultation Services

Why should I hire a color consultant?
Color consultants are professionally trained and have years of experience helping clients just like you. They stay current on current color trends but will customize their recommendations to match your personal preferences. They can analyze your existing design elements (floors/carpets, tile, cabinetry, etc.) and find solutions to your color challenges. Getting help can cost a little more than all of those color samples you’ve been buying and trying... but it’s almost always cheaper than your first big mistake. When you hire a color consultant, you won’t need to re-paint your walls to get the look you love — get it right the first time! Each virtual color consultant has their own tried-and-true methods and all of them have helped hundreds of customers just like you for years.
How can a Virtual Consultation be successful if they never visit my home or business?
A good virtual color consultant will have helped hundreds of customers just like you. The best outcomes happen when you are actively involved. For the bigger projects, it may take a few conversations and a couple of email exchanges of sample colors to review, but with your active participation, you can quickly hone in on a color scheme that will make your space look and feel exactly like you want it to. You will often be asked for photos of your home or business, a set of inspiration photos (maybe ones you like on Houzz or Pinterest?) noting likes and dislikes, fabric swatches if you have them, and a floor plan. You’ll talk through your design goals by phone, and then your consultant will send you color samples to audition, based on all of the information you have shared. In many cases, you’ll find your perfect colors on the first pass, but if not, you can iterate with your consultant until you are happy. Of course, the amount of phone and email interaction is related to the scope of your agreed-upon project.
How long will the virtual color consulting take?
Every project and every client is different. Colors for a room or two can often be turned around very quickly. New paint colors for an average sized home may take 3-6 hours of work (but several work days, factoring in the back and forth with your consultant so that you can test colors, create renderings, etc.). Larger homes, commercial projects or projects that involve fabric or finish selections start at 10 hours of consultant time. The important thing to know is that you’ll always be in charge of the budget and you won’t be making expensive mistakes.
Do you have someone who can help me choose colors for my project?
Unfortunately, this isn't something we're staffed to support.
