Kitchen Colors with Heart Pine

Our 1920's home has beautiful heart pine and red oak flooring throughout, except in the kitchen--which has pine base cabinets, off-white glass-fronted top cabinets, shelves, and walls. The floor is yellow-toned travertine. Terracotta, gold, and green predominate in the other rooms, lending a warmth to the rooms that I like. I want to keep the kitchen light, but am thinking about painting the cabinets a very light sage. Can anyone recommend a good color scheme to set off the orange tones of the adjacent room's flooring and the base cabinets? I'm also wondering if I should paint the base cabinets to match the top ones? Our applicances are white.

You have a lot going on with all of your warm undertones. My recommendation would be to go with light creamy neutrals to balance the orange tones, but at the same time tying everything together creating unity. As for your base cabinets paint it a light sage.

Color Ideas to Consider.

Creamy light almost neutrals in titration of tints on the same color strip. To create subtle nuances gradually balancing out each room.
