I can't tell you what base Sherwin Williams uses because we make our color matches using Benjamin Moore paint. We would use a medium base to make this color. If the wrong base is used, the color would be either darker (if used a deeper base) or lighter (if used a lighter base). The main difference between the bases is the amount of white pigment and the space available in the can. A light base will be almost white, an ultra deep base will be almost clear.

What base paint is used to make Sherwin Williams 6101, sands of time for exterior. Extra White? Light yello? deep base? or Ultradeep base? And what happens if the wrong paint / base is used?
