Help with HC69 Whiteall Brown! Keep or Paint over?

Hello!
Renting apartment and owner says I can paint! Floor is light oak hardwood. Furnishings are all cream/white (hip wool shag rug, white leather barcelona chairs, karlstad ikea sofa, oversized black/white photographs) Small apt only 800 sq.ft. but has TONS of light from entire wall of floor to ceiling windows.
Living room walls HC69 Whiteall Brown. I like the brown but it's semi-gloss. Would like to repaint same or in a 'fresher' brown color (in flat or eggshell?

Question: What color compliments HC69 (or similar brown that you suggest) in the following areas:
What color trim is best?
Adjoining separate bedroom?
Adjoining separate office?
Main Powder Room?

I like sage greens but don't know if they go with brown? Perhaps a blue.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm stuck in a decorator waste land!

Hi! Thanks for the great details! I'll see if I can help you find your way out of "decorator waste land." How cool that you can paint you rental!

Let's address the brown first. If you change the color, I would suggest a eggshell instead of flat, especially in a smaller space in a darker color. Here are my suggestions for a fresher brown color (all Benjamin Moore colors;) and Kona AF-165; Barrista AD-175. Whiteall Brown seems to have a lot of green in it, so I think you'll find these other colors to be crisper.

Your trim color should be a creamy white. You'll want to match that yourself as you have numerous cream-colored furnishings, and will be better able to judge them together.

I'm going to suggest green colors and blue colors for you. Any of these colors can be used in any of the three rooms you listed -- you can mix and match.

With the color scheme you already have going in the apartment, a sage green may be too gray. If you choose greens, you'll want to make sure they aren't too gray. You'll want to consider greens like Anjou Pear AF-425; or Wasabi AF-430.

Blue, brown, and cream, is a classic combination. Try Exhale AF-515; Harbor Haze 2136-60; or an ethereal color like Ocean Air 2123-50.

For your powder room, you can go a bit more dramatic. I like to use a deeper or more dramatic version of a color already in the home. Like Sea Star 2123-30 or Aegean Teal 2136-40.

Hope this helps!
