By any chance can you attach a photograph of of your fire place? Need to see the colors in more detail since there are different undertones of brown. My recommendation would be to pull the lighter tint out of the light brown swirl tile

I should clarify...the green-gray trim which you can see around the windows is used throughout the house including the living and dining rooms which are separated by a wide archway to make up half the main floor. The wood framed map on top of the mantle in picture #3 makes me think that some sort of burgundy might work. We prefer not to paint the fireplace the same color as the trim or the background. In translation the wood form needs to be painted in a tint/white, reason being anything with tile it is best to pull out the lightest color, so there will be no competition against other colors on your fireplace. The tile will be at the forefront which I am sure is a beautiful accent piece for your room. As with the trim go with a green. The gray in the green could be causing friction with other colors, stick to an earthy green.

We like the window trim and background colors, just not in love with the fireplace color. The wood framed map on top of the mantle in picture #3 makes me think that some sort of burgundy might work. Hi Brad,

Finally received your photographs this morning. Here are some suggestions to consider, you have conflicting colors with warm and cool undertones this is why the fireplace color is not working in your living area. One option is to paint the trim a color with warm undertones and keep the fireplace in harmony due to the fact the fire place has warm under toned tiles. if you prefer the trim color, in my opinion your fireplace is too dark with your dark carpet. A room needs to have visual contrast in defining the space. Dark floors and fireplace does not work. There are options to look at in keeping your preferred trim color and carpet.

One option is to go with a medium toned green for fire place and mantel. The other one is to paint your fireplace white with warm undertones pulling out the warmth of brown swirls. These colors should be safe. Please note lighting conditions can influence how a color reflects; therefore. several whites are attached for you to decide which one works best. Pull out the undertones of white in your tile.
