If you are painting over metal brackets that are already painted, then you don't need the alkyd primer. If you need a flat finish, you could use our ultra-flat lacquer spray paint. You would just need to make sure that the surface is clean and dull before painting. This would hold up better than using the primer. Our alkyd spray paints are self-priming over metal but don't come in a flat finish.

Hi.
I will be painting over painted oil based metal brackets. The finish needs to be a flat. Would the alkyd primer scrape or chip from the brackets easily if I do not use a semigloss finish?
