colour combinations

We have decided to stick with the original paint that we purchased (weimaraner) and I would like some ideas as to what are suitable combinations to compliment this colour. What colour to paint the garage doors? Do we use the same colour on the garage doors as the front door? Just a few days ago we had a friend give us some Pilgrim Red stain, but this does not work with the colour of our cedar decking.......so for now we continue on with WEIMARANER! Just need some colour coordinating ideas!
Thank you for your direction~
Margaret

Hello Margaret,

You can go a few different ways with a nice neutral color like Weimaraner. Many people choose to pain the garage door the same color as the main trim color, especially if it's a cream or white color. Then, they'll add a third color with the front door.

Here are a few paint colors that would work for a front door and trim/garage with Weimaraner.

Benjamin Moore Cottage Red http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/345279_Benjamin-Moore-Cottage-Red and Ballet White http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/103074_Benjamin-Moore-OC-9-Ballet-White

Benjamin Moore Tate Olive http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/5940_Benjamin-Moore-HC-112-Tate-Olive and http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/5896_Benjamin-Moore-963-Maritime-White

Benjamin Moore Stratton Blue http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/102885_Benjamin-Moore-HC-142-Stratton-Blue and Benjamin Moore Wind's Breath http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/5914_Benjamin-Moore-981-Winds-Breath

These are just a few examples of color combinations you could use with Weimaraner. If you have a particular color in mind, please reply and I can suggest more colors to sample for your home.

Hope this is helpful!

Diana

Thank you so very much Diana! I love the red aspect. I have recently painted my horse fencing black, and was thinking of having black trim around the doors and windows. Do you think the red would be too dark? We also have the Sikens mahogany stain for our decking, so I am wondering if it will be too much red or perhaps competing with each other? Would love to make the red work! Went to the Fraser Valley Building supplies and spent about an hour going through colours. Looked at a vanilla white? Has a slight yellow hue to it, but like the "heritage" look, and it seems to warm up the Weimaraner colour quite a bit too.
I can't thank you enough for your time and your inmput. Its amazing at how colour can change the appearce of you home.
Warm Regards,
Margaret

Pilgrim Red

Curious as to what you would suggest for contrasting colours for Pilgrim Red. We have a farm with Black fencing, and would like to have the it tie in with Pilgrim Red, or a version of this (Someone gave us 6 gallons!) Is there a way to brighten this colour up with out it looing pinky?

Hi,
I'd love to suggest a few colors for you to work with Pilgrim Red. Can you please reply to let me know what brand of paint this is?

Also, when you mention "brighten" the color, are you asking about using another paint color near the Pilgrim Red, or actually trying to lighten the paint itself?

Thanks so much,
Diana

Thank you Diana for such a promt response! The freebies came to us in a stain, (Benjamin Moore,....it starts with the letter A...... I believe...... sorry here at work so do not have the can infront of me) We will use to give the barns a fresh new look and will have to purchase some additional stain to complete the barns and also paint as the house has aluminum siding......
We currenltly have Weinameyer (SP?) in a BM Paint and stain on the various outbuildings and our home. We have painted the window frames BLACK and would like to keep this, as we have several 5 gallon pails of the black.
I would like to know if I was to have them add yellow, or white, or ??? if we could brighten it up a tad. I just think next to the black it will be rather dark.......
Your thoughts?
