Sponging Faux Finishing Technique

Sponging is a very easy and effective faux finish. This technique adds a bit of texture to plain walls and looks great in any room of the house. This is the perfect effect if you would like a simple and good-looking alternative to plain walls. Sponging is also one of the easiest faux finishing techniques because there is no pattern or application method you are forced to follow.  Generally a base color is applied and given at least 8 hours to dry before the glaze is applied. Next the glaze is mixed in a bucket, usually one part paint to three or four parts glaze depending on your personal preference. After being mixed up, the glaze is applied with a sponge in any pattern that you like. Work quickly so the glaze does not dry before you reach your desired effect.
